Columbus traded Federov for a rookie prospect and their caption Foote for a 1st round draft pick. I dont understand why they would do something like then when they are fighting for the playoffs

They're getting rid of two big salaries so that makes sense but that isnt going to help them get into the playoffs! They've called up Derek MacKenzie and Aaron Rome from syracuse though.

They are building for the next few years because I don't think they're making the playoffs this year either. With these trades they obviously don't think they're going to make it either. Only 5 points out of 8th, but they have to jump over 3 teams and then there's a couple teams who have games in hand on them. It looks like it's gonna be too tough getting into the playoffs, especially now.

GO HABS GO!!!

Derek MacKenzie can kill penalties and ex-Cincinnati Mighty Duck Aaron Rome has been one of the most consistent defensemen in the AHL this season. Good opportunity for the Blue Jackets to get a look at them over the next six weeks to see if they figure into next year's plans.

With Foote going back to The Avs and Forseburg comming back I hope this will mean trouble for the Dead Wings.

Colorado and Detroit will both have trouble getting past Anaheim in the playoffs.
