What you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Looks like the Clones will have more of physical team this year. Finally we'll have a team that will stick up for each other. Though we have success over the last two years, it has been frustrating watching out team struggle against more physical teams (like Elmira early last year). Woods and Makway will make it fun to watch!!!

Anyone heard where JM or Starling are at this year?

Chad is with Ontario Reign in California and JM will most likely end up in Wilkes/Stranton AAA farm team of Pittsburgh.

struggle?...did you see the team play at all last year. i sure didn't see any struggling. if you call losing less than 20 games (playoffs included) and never losing more than 2 consecutive games struggling, i'm not sure what you're expecting. i personally would rather have a team that puts up points, wins games and championships. i have nothing against physical players, but those guys better be able to play the game and not just goon it up. line brawls don't win championships (just ask elmira), players who can play smart, know when the time to fight is or isn't, and most importantly, score points do.

Elvis, I have missed a total of 4 home games in the past two years and grew up watching minor league hockey. I clearly anknowledged that we had a great season last year. We do not need goons...what we do need are players that do not sit back and watch their more skilled players get face washed and do nothing about it. Guys like Starling stand out!!

The vast majority of people in the States have yet to appreciate skilled hockey. They need to see the physical aspect. Not simply fighting but hard checking hockey. If you want to fill US Bank Arena, we better put a product on the ice that rattles the boards significantly more than the teams that we have had on the ice for the past two years.

i don't want usba filled. i want just enough to keep them around...a 4000 avg would be nice. when they fill the building it takes me 20 minutes to get a beer and then another 20 minutes to get through the line at the bathroom....screw that. give me skill, give me championships....if you want thugs, goons and the like, move to elmira...

and since you bring up starling. i take my hat off to him for not getting into it. CHAD STARLING WAS OUR BEST DEFENSEMAN. he lead the team in ice time, lead the league in plus/minus (which tells use that teams didn't score when he was on the ice, while at the same time we did.) if you question this take a look the teams PK numbers when he was on IR for those 10 days...teams would try to get him into something to get him off the ice. why trade a goon for our BEST DEFENSEMAN. some such as yourself may call that weak, but i call it smart CHAMPIONSHIP hockey....

Its kind of sad to see Chad go to Ontario, I had heard rumors he might play for Reading, but now that was obviously false.

Our best defensemen last year was a foward... Scott Reynolds I still wish he was coming back this year. Awesome 2-way player.

Like others have stated, it will be nice to see a few more scraps in self-defense. I doubt Weber is going to go out and grab a few goons though.

I want to jump in with a few comments...

First, the "lack" of consistent physical play last year was not ill-conceived. Coach W could have recruited a pack of goons but preferred to put together a group of talented players with a solid game plan. What we witnessed last season was a well-orchestrated, systematic, premeditated agenda. Simple goon hockey would not have won a title and would not have generated vastly improved attendance numbers in the second half of the season.

Certainly, there were moments when I thought the team could be a bit tougher. Then, I had to remember that guys like Chad Starling were not there to lay people out but to play smart, controlled hockey and to get the job done...the last time I checked, winning a championship was considered getting the job done.

A very talented Las Vegas team threw everything they could at the the Clones, and this team, supposedly "lacking" the physical play, did the deed. I am not opposed to recruiting a number of players who possess intelligence and who have the ability to play great hockey and to simultaneously pile up a high body count. But, the Clones were tough enough.

Finally, for those who are concerned that our players were a bunch of bitches who lacked guts simply because they did not take someone's head off every time play became a bit physical, I give you JM. The second smallest guy on the team was more than willing to tangle with bigger guys on the boards.

In short, the banner that will rise in 22 days suggests that the 2007-2008 Cincinnati Cyclones were tough enough. If that is not good enough for Greater Cincinnati sports fans, I can only recommend that you keep watching Bengals football. They don't win but they at least get to occassionally hit someone.

Elvis is right.....People come to see WINNERS!! IF you haven't notice that by now in Cincinnati... Reds don't win.. attendance is low.. Reds win - attendance goes up... Like every other sports team.. it's ALL ABOUT WINNING! You can get all the goons you want but if you don't win, nobody will show up

We do have some big hitters on our team last year and i believe we did hit a lot of people.. the physical hits WILL COME! Ask Rory Rawlyk...

The only person that played physical on a regular basis was JM who happens to one of the smallest players. I see something wrong with that. I will say that Conrad Martin came back a more confident player after being in Hamilton. I think McDonald still has Huxley in the back of his mind (Hukley KO'd him in Stockton). I am glad to see McElroy is back as he plays a physical game.

Where is Avery Wilson this year?

they games we struggled in were the games that we tried to play physical in. when the 'clones played their game, which is skill and skating, they destroyed the competition; sans the occasional game when the opposing goalie stood on his head.

with that being the case, why would you want them to play physical. let's see...try to play physical and lose or skate, play smart, stay out of the box and win? i'll take option #2 thanks.

that being said, that was for last years team. this years team could, and probably will be completely different. i'll hold my reservatins on this years team until i see them at camp. if they lack the skill and speed of last years team they better be able to clog it up a bit. if the speed and skill is there, then they better play that way and not let teams suck them away from that style of play.

The KC Championship certainly didn't emphasize the physical. However....

The team could NOT be intimidated. In the regular season or the playoffs. Most of the Cyclone's opponents attempted to take the clones off their game by initiating the rough stuff. The team was not intimidated AND more often than not responded with physicality in return. Though we really didn't have a top notch fighter, the majority of the Cyclones were willing to mix it up when necessary.

Weber engineered a complete team last year. Offensively, Defensively, Special Teams and Physically. They met their physical challenges. Which is all they needed to do.

If Mitch Woods lives up to billing, the Clones will have a real fighter for the first time since they came back from suspension 3 years ago. Wilson tried, and tried hard, but wasn't it. Bonneau was, well.....won't miss him! If Woods is the type of player who initiates fights and plays with a chippyness, then I think that he could help them at the gate.

There are alot of people who think of hockey in terms of fighting. So be it. It is part of the game-thankfully-and it always has been a large part of the appeal in traditional non-hcokey markets. Especially at the minor league level. Weber is a greaqt coach. His chief concern is winning. However, he will not have the good fortune of having Desharnais, Daoust or Dietsch this season. The team won't score near as much, most likely, and the team's ability to compete in the physical realm will take on added importance. I look for a much more physical squad this year. Given the loss of some major talent, it will have to be in order to be successful. At least that's what me thinks.
