Well it wasn't the prettiest game but the Clones have won their second straight on the road and now are just one win back from .500. Oh and beating Dayton was nice. It would be amazing to see what we could do without the penalties. Just like two weeks ago in Dayton, the first couple killed us. Penalty kill improved as the night went on ... for all NINE penalties against us. The one I thought was ridiculous was the one on the new guy Sawatske with about two and a half minutes left. It just wouldn't be a game in Dayton without us getting penalized with under five minutes left in the (close) game.
But the real star of the game was Gajewski. Just great all night, a plethora of glove saves, stopped 49 shots, the first two which one came off a near perfect centering pass and the other which was blocked and trickled in. And he was lights out in the SO. |

nevermind the penalties....i can't wait to see what happens when we actually limit a team to a reasonable number of shots (30 or less would be outstanding).
the guys are coming around but there are still lots of issues with the d-zone coverage. the best remedy for this and the shots on goal dilemma would be some puck possession. we don't have to cover in the d-zone and the other team can't shoot if we have them chasing us around at their end of the ice.
kyle came up huge tonite, especially late in the game; just as loic did last night. my hat is off to both of them.
this may stir up some disagreements, but after watching every game thus far, either in person or on the B2 i would have to say that kyle rank is the heart of this team right now. it wasn't on the jersey, but i'm glad to see chuck has rewarded his effort but giving him one of the A's tonite. they guy seems to be everywhere, blocking shots, finishing his bumps (as chuck likes to call them) etc. he drove to make a huge clear late in tonite's game. i think he has been pressing a bit in the offensive end thus far in the season and tonite i was thrilled to see him net a huge goal for us. |

| Elvis, i couldn't agree more with you. I've noticed a complete lack of leadership up to this point on this team. All the 110% players seem to be gone from last year (they deserve their shot in the AHL and NHL but it'd be nice to have some decent replacements) The defense looks alot less imposing without Chad back there, and without hustlers like Scott Reynolds and DD doing the 1 man penalty kills, we seem to be just another ECHL team. Hopefully Chuck can continue his brilliance behind the bench and turn this into another successful season |

| Don't get me wrong, I'm not not saying the SOGs haven't been the story of the year so far, and last night was no exception, if not worse. But you can't be undisciplined along with it. Generally when you've been giving up 40+ shots a night, and then get penalized 9 times, the results won't be very good. Fortunately for us, Kyle brought his A-game last night. That being said, the penalty kill greatly improved after the first couple of goals were let in. And I agree about Rank. His goal to tie it up was wicked. |

kymerik...we need kyle rank's energy and effort to rub off on the rest of these team...
jtest...every expected chad to play a physical game because he was tall; that wasn't his game. he did beat the crap out of rory rawlyk when the time came (pics are here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/20264554@N03/sets/72157605008224252/ ) the fact of the matter here is his job wasn't to fight or even to throw big hits for that matter; his job was to keep the other team from scoring goals, which he did better than any other defenseman in the league. as someone said in another post, i guess we are seeing what +49 means to a hockey team. unfortunately chad isn't hear this year, but since i don't see that we have a d-man that has a chance up putting up chad's kind of efforts, at some point the defensive unit as a whole needs to band together and step up together.
i'm glad the boys have strung 2 wins together, but if i were in their skates i'd be a bit embarrassed about allowing 53 shots. i'm not saying that this team can equal the numbers of last years squad, but if they can come together and play as a unit i feel they could compete for the division, probably even the conference this year in the least. |

Hats off to your goalie 53 shots on goal tonight, he is the reason Cincy got the "W" Sat night.
For our goalie..... Maybe he was trying to block shots blindfolded??? |

nice to see us win back-to-back games, but we still didnt play all 65 minutes! Dayton swarmed us all throughout the third period... we did alright the first two periods, but if we are to go to championship pace again, we HAVE to play all three periods, especially when we win!
New feature, MY three stars of the game: 1. The JOOSE... 49 saves... star effort 2. Kyle Rank... the game tying goal with five to go 3. Makaway... a goal and the GW shootout goal |

Great game last night everyone. Both teams had their ups and downs.
Both goalies weren't that impressive from what I saw. Yeah, Gajewski had 49 saves, but they weren't all 'stellar' by far. 3 of the goals should have been stopped. Likewise with Shantz, he had 3 that he should have snagged as well. Cincy looked as if they were carrying that first win into last night as well. A couple of things I noticed is that Cincy needs to really work on getting the puck at the boards. Almost everytime they went to the boards last night Dayton came away with the puck. The result was the majority of our shots on goal. The other thing they really need to work on is face offs. I don't think your guys won a single face off until the 3rd period when Dayton had Gaudet on the face off.
Either way, win or lose, it was a great game last night.
BTW, anyone at the game last night can tell the two kids wearing Bengals jersey's, if you can't take it, don't dish it. |

I think Lynch and Ryan made a couple mistakes on D that let Dayton have some nice oppurtunities last night. I'm now starting to see why we are giving up a lot of shots.
Anyone else see Dayton's Mustelli skating like he was the only one not wanting to play for OT? I want to see more of that from our players. |

Shantz has had a couple rough games (Wheeling and last night), but I still think you guys got a keeper there.

Shantz wasn't much better on Sunday against Wheeling...
Shantz is starting to remind me of the two guys we had last year... |

It's not that I'm "playing nice". I love my 'Clones but don't get involved in the feud. I've seen enough to know what goes around comes around, and I call it the way I see it....whether it's my team or another one. |
