Augusta Suspends Operations December 2, 2008
PRINCETON, N.J. – The ECHL announced that the Augusta Lynx have suspended operations, effective immediately and voluntarily relinquished their membership back to the League.
The move comes as a result of the Augusta ownership group being unable to continue to operate in 2008-09.
“We are very disappointed for our fans, league partners and the other member teams of the ECHL,” said ECHL Commissioner Brian McKenna. “The ECHL would like to thank the Lynx fans for all of their support.”
Augusta players will immediately become unrestricted free agents.
The league announced that the Augusta at Mississippi on Thursday and the Gwinnett at Charlotte games on Thursday have been cancelled.
It was also announced that Gwinnett will play at Mississippi on Friday and Saturday while Charlotte will play at South Carolina on Saturday.
Other game changes have Gwinnett playing at Mississippi on Dec. 13 and Dec. 14 and traveling to Charlotte on Dec. 19 while South Carolina will play at Charlotte on Dec. 21.
The league said that work has begun on a revised version of the playing schedule which will be released as soon as possible.

| Another question regarding all of this would be Mark O'Leary- he was traded to Augusta recently for future considerations... from Trenton- does Trenton get him back? |

| That's awful, I feel for the Lynx fan. We all know what it's like to lose our team, to have it done during the season must be even worse. I guess it was a good thing we got to see them twice at USBA last year though. |

We've been there before- but losing a team during the season is even harder to deal with I'm sure... Hopefully the league will take the players and the staff members under wing and help them find some work... (I know-wishful thinking)

| I even wonder how many would stay in the ECHL or go to one of the other leagues around. They will certainly have their options open. |
...And on the eighth day, GOD created the Cyclones! |

Once again THANK YOU Cyclones management last year for dropping ticket prices and regaining some much needed crowds.Yes you lost some bucks on ticket prices you started with, but an empty seat at $14 as compared to a FULL seat at $10 is huge. That's also why Hamilton County jacking the parking up is so bad.I to am sorry to see any town lose their team and even worse after the season has started. |

bags, you're right about the parking being jacked up. As much as it sucks though i'll pay the price for my hockey in Cincinnati.
Also it sucks that we are losing the Lynx, met a few of their fans last year when they came up for the games and they are very nice people. |

| Yeah, parking is down right greed on thier part....I went to a Blue Jackets game last weekend and the garages I saw were $10 too, plus there is some parking on the street right accross from the arena. |
