So it was McElroy that got in the fight with Penier, oppps, I mean Penner? I couldn't see the face through the blood, but everyone kept telling me it was Kilpatrick!

No Jimmy was in the other fight, TJ went against Penner.

here is Johnstown's take:
http://www.johnstownchiefs.com/news/index.html?article_id=405
The second period brought a taste of old-time hockey as a line brawl broke out after Conrad Martin checked Petr Pohl down after a whistle. Alex Penner worked over Martin, while Hendrikx took on Jimmy Kilpatrick. Even the goalies got into the act as Kris Mayotte and Houle dropped the gloves and met at center ice. After everything got sorted out the score was still tied at one with Ian Keserich and Kyle Gajewski replacing Mayotte and Houle respectively.
I could have sworn it was McElroy and Penner was the third man in
against Mac.

Wow they are really bad reporters there for J-town.

Anyway, Penner was a third man in, and also he wasn't on the ice at the time, they were changing lines after the whistle so Penner should get something for that.

I think the ref showed he was under
control by NOT giving McElroy 10 minutes for the fight in the third.

Wes Clark's misconduct was for no fight strap.

Well, that completely sucked. I blame the loss on... Barry Pochmara! He lost control of the game in the second which lead to the fight.....

If Ponchmara had blown his whistle when the icing occured and not 2 seconds later, then there would have been no fight.

McElroy popped the J-Town player who swiped at the puck-as hed should have. Penner popped McElroy-like he should have. Had the play been blown dead, the players wouldn't have played the roles that they are expected to play. That's what I saw anyway.

I agree 100%, the Ref and Linesmen were responsible for everything getting out of hand. They were responsible for knocking down the first domino, everything following was in response to them. It is a true shame as I believe we deserved the win. Hopefully the boys can bounce back with a blowout tonight, I believe it is going to be a high scoring game heavily leaning one side or the other. Hopefully we are on the top end.

Ponchmara was awful last night. I agree if he had blown the whistle for the icing call in the second the melee would not have occured. Generally I do hear a blown whistle from time to time from the opposite end, but I didn't hear the whistle blown when our goal was disallowed due to stoppage of play. Is ponchmara that bad of a ref, or is it just me wishing for the zoo to accept him for the zebra display?

I think Pochmara had a bad night (or at least worse than usual). The hitting increased markedly 2 minutes before the fight...some of the hits were legal, some not (slashing, leaving feet for a hit) but any of them could have been called and it would have calmed things down. He put his whistle in his pocket and we ended up with what happened.

Lets hope for a better performance tonight all around!!
