with as solid as paul lynch has been playing...basically he hasn't really done anything stupid...the lose of joey ryan isn't too big especially with tj and st. denis here. joey was on IR after all. if paul starts playing stupid i'll be eating those words...
while santorelli didn't put up any points for us, he did have good puck skills. with latty being gone for the what will probably be awhile (hamilton lost d'agostini to mtl where he has become a point machine and is probably not being returned anytime soon and aubin out for several months hamilton is very short up front...that is not a short joke refering to latty and DD....) santorelli's puck skills will be missed.
this is when a vet like barret needs to step up. we also need to look at the youngsters cohen and kilpatrick to step up as well.

Santorelli wasn't going to stay long here; it might have been roster maneuver by Milwaukee/Nashville or possibly a wake up call. I do think that he would have started scoring sooner rather than later and I was looking forward to it (I'll have to go back change my 1st/Last goal, dammit ).
I didn't realize Ryan was drafted so high but as others have said I don't think he was our #1 or #2 or even #3 defender. Someone in the Toronto organization most likely asked for him personally rather than "Your best non-affiliated defender" which at this point would be Conrad Martin (I believe his deal with Hamilton was voided). Hopefully he is back soon or signs a deal with them.
Hopefully the Euro leagues are wrapping up soon and some of those guys may return. We still could use some more secondary scoring and/or a thunderous shot from the point.
Luckily we had a loaded roster. But just thinking about who went up, its not a big surprise at all and I'd rather they go up than take back someone like St. Denis or Ian, sicne they are playing so solid lately.
