"This team just doesn't have the heart of last years team."
I am begining to think that in this very 'quote', heard from many fans, lies part of the biggest problem with OUR TEAM!!!
We fans witnessed a great team last year and a great chemistry between the players, coach and coaching staff. We lost many of those very same players to call-ups (deservedly so) and 'on to greener pastures'.
This year it is almost like starting from scratch!! A number of the returning players (now mostly gone) were expected to meld with the 'new' guys and be able to pick up the winning ways of the previous team. And we all know that has not happened. I even think that, maybe a little, the coaching staff expected this. With players fresh from the junior ranks and the near constant call-ups the team has gone through, adjustments and chemistry between the players has not had a chance to happen. Fans have targeted various players for blame of the losses and which puts even more pressure on them. Let alone that on the front of their jerseys they wear a patch saying 'Kelly Cup Champions 2008'; which in its'self a pretty hard legacy to live/play up to!
So, LACK OF HEART I don't think is the real problem......it is the lack of support especially mentally that our team is lacking!!! They are being compared too often to last years' team and are having a difficulty of dealing with this pressure. It seems to me, while on the road this team seems to play better than on their own home ice. When home they are trying (IMO) too hard to impress the fans and show them that they are as good. And there-in lies a big part of the problem. They are over-trying and over-playing, causing mental mistakes that are costing them the wins.
These players DO HAVE THE SKILLS to be a winning team!!! They have to find it in themselves and prove to themselves that they CAN BE just as good!! |

For those looking for last years team check the AHL scoreboards. Thats where they are. Hell, most of this years' team is there too.
These guys certainly aren't here for the money, the're not here for a shot at the NHL, the're here to play for the love of the game. My hat is off to every one of the guys that straps on the skates and goes out and leaves it all on the ice. You can question some things about our guys but heart is not one of those things. |

| You must be kidding me. This team is simply not very good - PERIOD! Quit making excusses for them. You can't win the cup every year - get over it! This team is not skilled - not physical - NOT FUN TO WATCH! |

I have to disagree. This team is talented; even with the most productive offensive weapons in the AHL (Werner, Latenderesse, Beauregard, Daoust) Not to mention all the other call ups we have endured. Somehow the "scraps" that were left managed to score 4 goals in 15 minutes and had more shots than they had logged all season long. Are they inconsistent? Yes! Are they going to repeat as Kelly Cup Champs? Probably not.
Is the team physical (In what I think you mean by "physical")? NO! But as a season ticket holder since 06-07 (You stated you were as well) what Coach Weber team has been? Weber enjoys an incredible amount of success coaching speed and skill over thuggery and I for one appreciate it and continue to pay good money to see it. I'm not picking a fight here, I'm pointing out the obvious. Johnson was not brought here to entertain you, he was brought here to keep people from teeing off on the scorers. Look at the lines... Kilpatrick, Van Guilder and ...Johnson? If you keep everyone preoccupied with Johnson it frees up a ton of ice for the other two.
Last nights game was tied in the last minute and while we ended up on the short end I can't believe you didn't find that exciting. Once again, if your idea of entertainment is two goons pulverizing one another perhaps this might not be the ideal entertainment venue for you. |

I also believe there is some talent here. I'm not a season ticket holder because I expected to win the cup again because I don't. It's because I love the game and it is something fun and affordable my whole family enjoys. I am also beyond grateful Chuck Weber is still here.
Respectfully, I did not find the last minute of the game last night exciting. To the contrary, I have left games disappointed before, but never as mad as I was last night because of HOW we lost. I certainly don't expect to win every night, but I don't expect consistent stupidity to be tolerated.
I also respectfully disagree with my Cyclone colleague about Johnson being brought here to protect the scorers. Our roster is depleted with call ups and he is what's left at the bottom of the barrel. This IS NOT a Chuck Weber type player, and I personnally believe if he continues the way he is and always has been through his career, his days are numbered here too. |

The team is jelling together the callups have hurt them, but calling them not fun to watch is ridiculus. Last night's game was a blast. It was too bad we came up on the wrong side of the scoreboard.

| Hey KRL Photo - your clones are a bunch of *****s...... 4 of the *****s watched and did nothing while their smallest team mate got his butt kicked. You all can bad mouth Johnson all you want - but he is the only one who will protect his team mates. I do agree he isn't the smartest player on the ice but he has more guts then all the other players combined.. Yea, coach Weber get some more guys that are afraid to go into the corners and stay away from in front of the net, they might get touched........ Hockey is to be a physical sport, but not this team. You would have to agree the Clones WILL NOT win on skill as this team has very, very little - if any.. But they better be entertaining if not, no butts in the seats and that equals ANOTHER folding franchise.. |

wait a minute KRL - until your are suited up wearing a jersey and playing - these are not YOUR Cyclones. Smashmouth and I obviously have our eyes open and see the the big picture of what is wrong with this squad. Call ups have killed us..that is obvious! This team is weak (in regards to skills and lack of physical play). You can not create an educated response to contradict this - it is a fact!! I have been calling out our lack of physical play for the past two years. How can you sit htere and watch a smaller teamate get his ass kicked and just sit there. The shows me that this is not a "team" but a bunch of individuals that are out for themselves. BIG PROBLEM for a hockey team.
I am a huge Cyclones fan and am as disappointed in this season as you guys are. I simply refuse to sit here and pretend that things are "good" - or that things "are getting better". THEY ARE NOT!!
It is painful to watch the current squad that we put on the ice - they are simply a bad "team". Team meaning our current roster "collectively" does not mesh well. I refuse to point fingers and single out any one player. This season will continue to be full of disappointments. The sooner you realize this the easier it will be for you. This is minor league hockey - this happens! We can always come back next year and take another run at it...

Wait a second. If they aren't his Cyclones then why are you saying "us" referring to the team or saying "we" put this team on the ice? Are YOU suited up in a Cyclones jersey and playing and I missed it? Just curious. I'd also like to add that the sooner you quit coming to games since you are so disgusted the easier it will be for all of us.
