How on earth does a team go 0/9 on the POWERPLAY?

Where is the offense that seemed to be racking up the goals earlier this season?

Because this team is absolutely horrible. I can't believe that the few guys we have from last year even want to show up to play anymore. I sure wouldn't. I feel terrible for Chuck & Dean.

Hockey is life. All the rest is just small stuff.

I actually turned the game off when "Mr. Dependable" Justin Johnson did his trademark bonehead play and got a penalty as soon as the Cyclones got a power play in the first. Momentum is a thing of the past with knucklehead out there, not that they ever had any in the first place.

...And on the eighth day, GOD created the Cyclones!

Not related to our horrible playing but...

Gotta love how the "Cyc-lowns Fan Club" name appeared on the scoreboard too when they announced the groups. I'm surprised they are allowed to do things like that.

It doesn't get much worse than Friday. No power play. Boneheaded defensive play. No chemistry or cohesion. Not much spirit. The cupboard is bare. Check this article out.

http://thespec.com/Sports/article/487334
We didn’t find out until 2:30,” said Bulldogs coach Don Lever who wasn’t told why Montreal needed the players but suspects the Canadiens might have a bit of flu running through the team.

He said that didn’t leave the Dogs enough time to call anybody up from Cincinnati but said the cupboard is pretty bare there anyways

The Clones are just flat out bad right now. Until some of the guys are sent back from Hamilton, this team looks like it has nothing but L's in its near-term future. From an offense which was averaging 4 goals per game just a few weeks ago to a team which has not one true goal scorer on its roster. The joys of affiliation. Yuk.

The Clones have to play a near perfect defensive game to have much of a chance of winning. And last night's comedy of errors certainly didn't fit that bill.

The only good news is that we're not that far behind Elmira (2 or 3 points) and that there are still 43 games remaining to be played.

In game 29 of the season, the Clones lost their 12th in regulation. They had already lost 5 in OT/SO. These loss totals equal the entire 72 game totals of last season. Last season was a dream. This season is looking more and more like a nightmare.

I got a kick out of that. Also, always get a smile out the "duck" music that is played. Evidently someone (or a few someones) didn't. The kid who does their music/video has a meeting with Dayton's owner tommorrow.

Someone (or someones) needs to lighten up. It's minor league hockey. And, recently, really bad minor league hockey.

I think "Cyc-lowns" is a complimentary name for the team which has been taking the ice of late. I know that I have been calling them much worse.

We were up there last night. We lost in every category except the shot totals and looked like a team that had never played before (well, that's pretty close to accurate). No passing, no play making, at times, no effort. Houle was completely left out to dry several times, and at other times was way out of position. The refereeing sucked big time although good calls would not have helped us.
Others might disagree, but I think Johnson is a big liability. I don't know what his plus/minus is right now, but last time I looked, it was -10.
At least the parking up there is free.

And from the same article mentioned above:

Notes: Now that the Montreal Canadiens have returned goaltender Marc Denis to the Bulldogs, netminder Loic Lacasse has been reassigned from Hamilton to Cincinnati of the ECHL.

Thats what we need Hamilton, another goalie. What are we suppose to do, suit him up to play forward? Well, he could replace Johnson. That would be a signicant upgrade even if he never played the position. Anyway, I'm glad to see Hamilton taking the shaft like they have done to us.

i sure hope that's meant to be taken with some sarcasm and you realize why we even have affiliates. yeah it sucks when we lose our skilled guys to the ahl, but that's why we're here. hamilton recalls or sends us players based on their roster needs not ours. hamilton started this season pretty thin up front so any injuries there or in mtl was/is going to effect us...deal with it. last season it was just the opposite, hamilton was strong up front and thin defensively so we lose conrad martin but get to play almost the whole season with guys like urquhart/latendresse, desharnais, beauregard, aubin, russell and desjardin.

i would like to thank you hamilton for allowing us to watch what amounted to an echl fantasy team night in and night out last season. yeah, it's hard to swallow but **** happens and we'll do the best we can with what you give us whether it be a 3rd goalie or a roll of tape.

In this case it is quite simple if you would have read previous posts regarding Johnson, and not just from me. His career ECHL stats bare it out: 101 games played, 9 goals, 7 assists, 16 points with a MINUS 24 and 249 penalty minutes. Absolutley pathetic for a forward. Why do you think Utah cut him in the middle of a season. Can you say "Liability?" His "Effort" consists of skating around trying to start fights at the stupidest times, such as helping the team to negate power plays they are on and leaving the team short handed when they have leads. His puck handling is also terrible. Take one look at this depleted roster and you know the ONLY reason he is here....He is a body to put on the ice. He may not be gone by January 1, but if Chuck gets some people back I am confident he will be then. END OF STORY!!!

Yes, I have read all the posts about Justin Johnson and from what I read you are the only 1 that consistantly rips on him every chance you get reguardless of the subject! So, let me guess you could do better huh??? Why aren't you out there eh??? Whatever, ya his stats suck big deal, what do you suggest coach cloneinator?!?!?

Everytime Justin is on the ice, in the offensive zone, if he isn't banging it out in the corners with two guys draped over him, he is right in the crease, ready to put the puck on the net. If he is on the ice and anyone from any other team is getting in the face of our guys... he steps up! That is what an enforcer does! Not one single player has stood up to that task yet on this team; the one guy who was supposed to is gone! Our goalie gets crashed to the ice and everyone stands around with their fingers up their nose going... oh... what do we do... but Justin gets in the face of the guy who pushed around our team! That is his job, that is why he is here. Yes, he may get stupid penalties every game... but so did MacDonald when he first returned at the beginning of the season. And so did Mitch Woods and by the way, the Enforcer was supposed to be his job at first.

If you pay attention to Chuck on the bench... he sends Justin out on the ice to make sure our team is taken care of! Chuck looks at Justin and says go or don't go. Justin still takes his orders from the coach. And on more than one occasion he gets his "dumb penalties" as retaliation penalties.

I don't care what you have to say opinions are like a**holes everyone has one and they all stink!!!! END OF STORY!!!!

We went to WHL tonight and thank God they were able to put together a nice road win and put the puck in the net on a few power plays. I'm putting it here since the discussion is on Johnson ... me and my buddy have been very critical of him and the awfully-timed penalties, but were very impressed tonight. He hustled like no other and you knew when he was on the ice, made one very nice diving play to clear the puck out of the zone and even set up the first goal pretty nicely. You have to wonder what kind of player he's capable of being when he plays like he did tonight ... he can definitely drop the gloves and has a lot of speed. It also seemed like a total team effort tonight which was nice ... McElroy, aside from the usual nice goals, made an excellent play in the final minute when Wheeling had the pressure on with the extra attacker, after losing his stick on the boards he simply layed a huge check on the player with the puck which led to the final clearing to seal the victory. Great to see plays like this.
