I have to say JJ handed Sgori his ass toinight. JJ hit him with 3 good shots and it looked like Big Mike didn't want anymore of JJ after that. Sgori was also breathing hard after the fight/take down and also had an ice bag on his head. Round 2 tomorrow night? We will see
Its always been my impression that Sgroi was more bluster than bite relying on intimidation more than anything else. When someone like JJ actually steps up he's an above average fighter at best.
Don't get me wrong, Sgroi is still a nut. I've seen the YouTube clips and occasionally he completely loses it but all in all he's a decent ECHLer who has a big mouth.
The most telling issue was after the fight he was no longer a factor when Johnstown imploded and they really needed him. Of course the fact we had hardly any penalties allowing Sgroi to sit in front of the goal helped too. (Hey Hamer; what's our record when we take less than 20 minutes of penalties ? I bet he knows !)
I would be surprised if there isn't a round 2 tonight. Johnstown was embarassed last night and Sgroi's fight had to be a part of that. Johnstown will be looking for a spark and payback and thats the role Mike Sgroi relishes. I'm sure Justin Johnson will be waiting to provide the same spark for us as well.
Hopefully Sgori will not mess with JJ anymore if he doesnt want to be picking himself off the ice....Thats why i think JJ is around to put people like Sgori in his place

I guess the verdict is in...Sgroi wanted no part of JJ last night. A decisive victor in a fight could have been the spark Johnstown needed. Surprisingly Sgroi did nothing even though they shared the ice for at least part of the night.
I expected them to go after Johnstown scored its first goal although we answered back quickly and perhaps they didn't have time to get Sgroi out there.
