Okay, nothing wrong with a nostalgic thread every now and then, since it was the trivia question at Saturday night's game, who all was at the infamous Lumberjacks brawl game? For many years I remembered it like it was yesterday, but unfortunately it now being 11 years old it's getting hard to remember (well, not really, but I just don't remember who all was paired up with who). One of the highlights was definitely Sarjeant fighting the Lumberjacks goalie whose name escapes me at the moment ... what a game to experience live. If that didn't make you a hockey fan, I don't know what will, great rivalry game with the huge fight at the end, and if I recall correctly we won pretty handily ... 6-2 or along those lines. Dave Williams dropping the gloves with I believe the guy out of the penalty box was also a classic moment.

There also used to be a movie clip they would play on the scoreboard before Cleveland games, it was a guy at an airport and the lady at the desk told him there was a delay and he had to fly into Cleveland ... his response was "Cleveland? I hate Cleveland"! ... I never knew what movie it was from, but anyone remember when they'd play it before games? Just like the Rudy "No body comes into our house and pushes us around".

My son has a Cleveland jersey that he used to like to wear around Biggs just to make him laugh. Don's 1st response was "I thought we were friends and you had to go and wear that jersey." My kid's response was "but you won that fight right?" They used to have a laugh every time he wore that jersey.

Ah, one of the funnest games I've ever been to! That was my first year of being a hockey fan having just been introduced to the sport by my now husband. My clearest memory is of the Lumberjack getting up on the net with this look of, why the hell not!, on his face.

I don't know if it helps but you might be able to track it down here...

Finding old IHL archives aren't too easy but every so often, you can come across someone that has what you are looking for that is willing to YOUTUBE it for you.
Hopefully the above link helps you track it down if you really would like to see it again. |

I used to know the movie that Robert wagner opened up the envolope and said the famous line, Cleveland I hate Cleveland, I was 100% at one time...I do know that it was a 1991 or so John Candy flick Delierous or Who is Harry Crumb? One of those, since we are on the subject...I think the jumbotron or what ever it's called is wayyyyy to underused and can be a fan favorite that costs very little to shoot up there movie quotes...hell they even stopped using the Rudy clip..I think after 2 children its hard to get there before the puck drops....

I was there... It was a great night. I do remember Biggs taking a couple cheap shots before the major brawling went down. I also rememnber when fights would break out during pre game warm-ups now that was fun to watch

Remember when they used to show the fight during the opening video; and, everyone would count as Biggs would pound the Jacks player's head into the ice?

I have a dvd of the game however it is not from the the angle shown on the jumbo tron. It is show from the back of the arena of center ice and of course during the fight it shoots the back of an off ice official for the entire thing.

Give me a couple days to locate the DVD, it isn't where I had expected it to be and I'll see what I can do.
