Hi everyone,

I just want everyone to know that an Enquirer reader wrote to the paper. Here's the link: http://news.cincinnati.com/apps/pbcs.dll/section?Category=edit0202&plckController=Blog&plckScript=blogScript&plckElementId=blogDest&plckBlogPage=BlogViewPost&plckPostId=Blog%3ae8ab9c9c-3e4b-46b9-a08d-a17c4ecdcdc7Post%3adec333ad-714d-47b8-b0da-b1be983d6b1b&plckCommentSortOrder=TimeStampAscending&sid=sitelife.cincinnati.com.

I did write a response, but I'm not sure how long they will keep it on line so I want to share my response to a responder: Nope, the Enquirer is responsable for printing c**p that is not fit to print. But the Cyclones are always better news compared to two other "professional" teams in town. Let's see, since 1990 the Cyclones missed the playoffs only three times (six if you include suspending operations). The Bungles only had a fluky season and got their @$$es kicked by the almighty Steelers in the Mike "the scum of the earth" Brown era. The Reds missed the playoffs in 1997 due to a poor performance against the NY Mets (really, you got to be kidding me)in an playoff playoff game. Due to the incompantance of both the Reds and Bungles, the Cyclones should have more coverage since that is the only professional team that does its job in the regular season. Hey, extra points should be given since the team did win the championship in the city limits. No one had done that in over 50 years. Quit being sad sadcinci and cheer for a proven winner.

Cyclones hockey. A championship caliber team in a city of losers.

YAY!!! The message board wars spill over to the newspaper's editorial page!!! Just a few observations:

It was 1999 when the Reds lost the wild card tiebreaker to the Mets. I guess someone WAS kidding you when they said 1997.

The Reds and Bengals have done their job every year since 1990, except the Reds in late '94 and early '95, when they were on strike with the rest of Major League Baseball. Other than that, both teams played full schedules every year, which is their job.

The Cyclones suspended operations for two years, therefore if they've only missed the playoffs 3 times since 1990 while playing, that means they've only missed the playoffs 5 times if you include suspending operations.

How many extra points should be given to the Cyclones for winning a championship in the city limits, and where can I find the standings for all the points that are being given to these teams, and the scoring system?

that's the most cyclones coverage i've seen in the enquirer in weeks. all great points, but the average enquirer reader doesn't care. it might be a safe guess that the majority of people in cincinnati don't even know there is a hockey team.

cincinnati is traditional, and by that i mean people stick with traditions. reds fans are more prone to remember the days of the big red machine than the 1990 team. people "bleed blue" just because. people who follow the bengals are waiting for then to turn it around and be successful again, like they were in the 80s (why else would people still wear bengals' gear or think the ickey shuffle is one of the best celebration dances ever?).

reporting news is about what the people want to know about. have you noticed the enquirer doesn't write much about the freedom or the kings either?

Didn't the reds win it all In 1990? or
was I to high back in the day and it all
was a dream? I was born In 1970 and I'm not 50(yet) and I have seen two championships won The Reds and Our Cyclones.(and thats not including my Big Blue UK Cats and Yankees)

Yeah the reds won in 1990... but i believe he is referring to the reds winning in Oakland instead of at home...
