Andrew Conboy, Montreal draft pick, was suspended by Michigan State for the rest of year after his bertuzzi-esque type hit in a game vs. Michigan last weekend. Conboy subsequently dropped out of school and is opting to turn professional.

Can see/read about the hit here:
http://mvictors.com/?p=2230

He also had ugly incidents in his junior career and I hope we don't have to deal with a nut job like him here....

If Montreal is going to keep him the most likely place he will end up is right here. I imagine Montreal is debating what exactly they want to do with this guy. (Its not like he went real high or was a recent pick)

He wasn't the one swinging the stick so that works in his favor (he did appear to be pushing the other guy back) but his age and stats don't sound like an ECHL type of guy (or higher for that matter).

His stats: http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php?pid=96836

Tropp was the one that did the worst here, not "our" guy Conboy. He did have a dirty take-down from behind, but the other guy came up cause he was made he got clocked, and swung his stick at the injured, laying on the ice, player.

Be mad at Tropp, not the guy just trying to stand up for his teammate.

Loyal Cyclones fan since 1993

Did you see the same play? Conboy hit the kid from behind and took him down. Yeah, what Tropp did was bad too (he also got suspended the rest of the year), but only a fool would try to justify either player's actions...

Have you ever seen Conboy play? I have, several times. He's not a player you want in a Cyclones sweater...

What Tropp did reminded me of the McSorley hit on Brashear.

He would good fit for the Cyclones. They are not deep at LW and he does have some good speed and some skill. After this incident last weekend it's apparent he's got growing up to do but i think a line with he and Justin Johnson would keep opponents honest and they both are skilled.

Uh...
I like the Cyclones and all, but as a Michigan hockey fan, I'm going to have a difficult time restraining myself from heckling him if he comes here.

I hope he ends up on the Bombers by some odd chance.

First off,was that a joke saying put him with Justin Johnson or are you a Dayton
fan that wants us to fail !! If he arrives here, everyone will have a bullseye on
his back, so Justin is the last player to have on the ice with him.Justin has really
settled down and really surprised me on how under control he has been playing. If you
put the two together, opposing teams will only send the goon sqad in force. Saying that,
it would be interesting if he can take the goon squad attacks and not get out of control.
If he can play under control, I welcome a chance for him to play hockey. Here he won't
need to be the "enforcer" and can concentrate on playing hockey.

First off I'm not a Dayton fan that wants you to fail, I'm a Habs/ Hab's prospect fan.
I'm not reallly understanding your logic about everyone having a target on their backs because Conboy is on the team. Not sure the rest of the league really cares that much about Conboy's situation, in the first place.
You can call them the goon squad i don't care but IMHO Conboy and Johnson play similiar kinds of games and would cause problems for opposition if they get to play together; both rough boys that have skill.......... plus maybe Conboy could use Johnson's game as an example to control himself a little better.
But I do think he will always have problems keeping control judging by his history. He has alway been known to be very "over" aggressive at times. This goes for his older brother Tim Conboy. In his blood I guess.....

Well I'm sure we all heard the rumors of him signing with the Hamilton Bulldogs and IMO Hamilton has a way too deep a roster for Conboy so my guess is he's Cincinnati bound....

When I said everyone will have a bullseye on him,I meant every opposing team
will send the players after him to see if he snaps. If you put Justin out on the
ice with him,you put Justin in the position of having to cover his back and all
you get out of the shift is penalty minutes. When Justin first came here, all he
did was fight and all we did was lose. If Conboy comes here,we need to put him
in a position of playing hockey-not just being physical.

Well i agree about putting him in a position of playing hockey but he will always play on the edge and will cross it from time to time IMO.
Justin will not have to cover anyone's back as Conboy is big boy standing 6'4" 200 pounds and will fight for himself.
Playing him with Johnson was just an ideal that i throw out there. I think it could work who knows....... it's not worth agruing about seeing Conboy signing has not even been confirmed yet.

Maybe I shouldn't have made the Dayton comment, but thanks for coming on
board and giving an idea about the team. Conboy sounds like a guy that will
draw a lot of attention-including the refs.Maybe after the heat is off him a
shift of Justin and himself could be tried. Now that Justin is showing some
control, refs are allowing him some physical contact with no penalties called.

Just a thought, right now is there room on this team for Conboy? I know TJ was called up and getting Jacob Dietrich, even tho losing a Dman and getting a forward I just hate to mess up this chemistry this team has right now.
Who goes or gets a healthy scratch if/when Conboy gets here?

SoWhatSki would be first in line. MacLeod, Zero and Gordon are in the queue.
