Well now that Conboy has officially signed it looks like most of you will get your wish and he will stay with the Bulldogs for the time being. With the rash of injuries to both Montreal and Hamilton it has left Hamilton short of forwards.
Well I'm happy he finally signed, continuing to play and develope. He's intriguing prospect no matter what youthful mistakes he makes. |

from what chuck had to say from the coach's show we could see him. it might just be for 5 games to make him playoff eligible. since beau is done for the year with season ending knee surgery and olivier just had season ending should surgery and mtl just lost lang i doubt we'll see conboy for very long.
chuck said he had worked with him the last 2 summers and that he was actually a good kid, but was surprised to see him go the college route. as chuck put it, conboy's game isn't suited for the college game....
the kid has a lot of upside, 6'4" 210lbs, and plays with a chip on his shoulder. i actually think JJ would be good influence on him. JJ has been given the chance to play hockey here and has proven to be an asset. if conboy can do the same, i'll keep an open mind if he shows up.
that being said, i'm a michigan state fan but hitting someone from behind is chicken ****. i can make an argument, for going after kampfer (A. i've seen several angles of the hit that kampfer put on tropp, in some angles it looks clean, in some it looks like he brought the elbow up. B. it was the last minute of the game, UM was up 5-3 in what is one of the most heat rivalies in college hockey, and kampfer throws that hit; he had to have know the **** was going to hit the fan), but the fact that conboy hit him from behind was just chicken ****. if you have an issue with something a guy does on the ice fine, but settle it face to face. i'll be interested in seeing what conboy does at the pro-level when the cages come off. if he ends up here he's gonna start off on my **** list and have to earn his way off.... |

I can not justify what he did to Kampfer. I certainly can't argue that it wasn't a chicken **** move.
But that being said i certainly hope he ends up in Cincinnati. The Cyclone organization especially ther coaching staff has been incredible for the prospects Montreal has sent down. Latendresse, Beauregard, Deharnais and Desjardins to name a few. It appears JT Wyman is having a smoother transition to defence from forward then expected. Lacasse filled in perfiectly in Desjardins and Denis absence in Hamilton.
Even the non-Habs prospects deserves mentions as Johnson, Kilpatrick, and Salekin have impressed me with their improved play.
Judging by the Cyclones history, Conboy would do well with some time there. He's not just a enforcer....he has some skill and he's got good speed for a player of his size. He has problems being over-agressive at times so there is a good chance of him having problems like what has happened over the last little bit. Hope with some coaching and maturity he will learn to control his temper, if thats the issue.......
And long live the Montreal-Cincinnati marriage...... |
