Sounds interesting Jim but what exactly will we get if we join Twitter? Is there a way to select certain options? I would love to have something that will text me game results for those times I can't be there and I am not able to listen. I don't necessarily want to get hundreds of text messages on every possible subject from every Cyclones fan on section 60.
That's a great idea! I'll try to make it a habit to send out score updates and such.
I thought it would be a great way to get info out to a lot of people FAST. It's still a "work-in-progress" for exactly how I will use Twitter.
You'll need to go read up on the Help section on Twitter for info on "OPTIONS"... I'm new myself, so I don't have the answers. But I believe there are ways to limit your texting.
If anyone else has any other ideas on how I should utilize Twitter, please post your suggestions!

OOPS! Apparently anyone outside the UK can send but can not receive text massages through Twitter so unfortunately I don't think this is going to be much help to us.

I think you've mis-read it.. It states: Folks using international numbers: once your phone is verified, you'll be able to send but not receive updates from Twitter.
Our phone numbers aren't considered "international" numbers.
Once you setup your cell number with Twitter, to receive SMS (text) messages, you need to "Turn ON" for EACH person you're Following.

Then maybe it is a problem with my phone provider because when I signed up and entered my phone number in Twitter I got a web page saying that I could send messages from my phone to Twitter but I would never get a message from them. I started researching trying to figure out why and found the comment about International Calls. They are based in Great Britain so I figured that was the problem. I have had hit and miss luck signing up for text messages so it could be on my end. Hopefully it will work for others.
I've received SMS messages from twitter on my phone.
screamin... Twitter is kinda like "facebook-lite".. where you update your "status" and everyone that "follows" you gets informed of your status updates. That's pretty much it.
