| Former Dayton Bummer, and Elmira Jackal, Dan LaCosta, started, and pitched a shutout tonight vs Colorado. As much hell as I gave him when he was in town against out Clones, I was rooting for him. This prooves once again, that the ECHL does have NHL talent and that the difference between the two is not as great as some believe. |

I was at this game last night! It was something to see. It was actually my first NHL game, sad to say... I wasn't super impressed with the supposed level of talent compared to our guys. It was a bit faster and the passing was somewhat crisper, but it didn't seem like some kind of ballet compared to our boys. But like my boyfriend said, it was the Blue Jackets playing the Avalanche... Not two "premier" teams. 
But yeah, Dan did an awesome job last night. There were a few times where he lost track of the puck (just a few) but the defense cleared the trash and that took care of that.
All in all, a good first NHL game for me. And awesome for LaCosta pulled off a shut out in just his second NHL start! |

i was able to see his NHL debut a few nights earlier against the sharks, which he won in OT. and to think, the jackets went out and picked up a goalie off of waivers with out ever giving dan a look. the guy the jackets picked up off waivers got smoked and the next 2 games here comes dan to win the next 2 games.
i got to talk to dan the the next day at hockey fest and he was still the same down to earth guy. we talked about his pro debut, which came against cincinnati and he said "yeah, you guys kick my ass..." |
