A two game lead in our division!!!!! And I am real happy that we have an Ocho Cinco we can actually be proud of... tonight's third star Justin Johnson!
This means that we are tied with Alaska for the 2nd best record... and Florida is showing signs of rust, so we may be able to catch them...
The incredible comeback begins again!

| Mike Sgroi is not an enforcer he is a liability (And an Idiot) because he doesnt know when to shut up and will ruin his team down the stretch with his pethetic play. JJ is an Enforcer he keeps his mouth shut and fights like an enforcer is supposed to do |

| I didnt get it...Elmira was going on the power play, we had control of the puck, so why did Sgroi go off on the refs and get a game misconduct? |

He truly did play like an idiot, and he just looked like he was trying to hurt guys out there (poor Gordon ended up on the receiving end multiple times).
Anyway, great rebound win just like Reading earlier in the week. The offense was clicking a lot better. My only complaint was the power play ... we probably should have been by a greater margin, oh well. |

After the penalty was called by Charron (Ref), Sgroi was skating back to the bench mouthing off and rapidly tapping his stick on the ice (apparently his sarcastic way of saying about time for the penalty call). Charron saw it and gave him the boot! He had it coming given all the sh** going on previously in the period. Sgroi is a head case psycho and will always be a few olives short of an antipasto!! |

I always get a kick out of Sgroi. He's raw entertainment.
Great win for us. Elmira just ain't that good. Obviously. Our power play got the two goals in the seven second span, but looked pretty sickly otherwise.
Quite frankly, I'm a bit disgusted that no revenge was taken for the cheap shot on Salekin. He was on another planet when he was dragged off of the ice by his teammates. I hope he's going to be ok and have no long term effects from the disgraceful attack upon him. |

I agree w/ hrc666. Betts' "headhunter" hit on Salekin was the utmost cheap shot. Where was the payback? If you remember in Friday's game Salekin confronted and fought Betts immediately following Betts questionable hit on Ian McKenzie. Salekin stepped in and stood up for his teamate. I didn't see the same reaction Saturday night. Hang in there Mike - we appreciate your grit!!

To say it now, JJ almost jumped on the ice after the hit but Chuck pulled him back. |

I'm glad to here that Johnson was willing to go after him. I'm also glad that I edited my previous response which had a few unkind things to say about more than a few players who didn't respond. The only one who deserves contempt is Coughlin who, for a second, looked like he was going to do something and then did nothing.

Mike Sgroi was one of the biggest reasons Elmira did not win last night. He lost control even before the third period faceoff mouthing off to Mike Salekin, Barret Eghoetz and even Coach Weber. He then proceeds to take 4 minutes of dumb penalties. The game misconduct was just icing on the cake. Betts then blindsides Salekin (as a payback for trash-talk?) and puts Elmira a man down for 5 more minutes not to mention taking himself out of the game as well. That friends and neighbors is an implosion and why Elmira is not a championship team.
Even shorthanded for nine minutes (and a few other incidental penalties) Elmira still managed two goals. Elmira's lack of discipline and control makes them exciting to watch (Who doesn't like a good train wreck? Mike Sgroi chief conductor!) and most likely to face some fines/suspensions this week. If you were an Elmira fan you had to be pissed because as depleted as we are those two games should have been gimmes and a real opportunity to elevate yourself in the standings.
Lastly is seems Sgroi wants to go with anyone who won't hit him back. I don't think he landed one shot with Johnson and seemed more concerned with covering up than throwing anything. (Maybe he learned something in 9 years of ECHL hockey!) As for Mike Salekin he was at Gameday (postgame party) looking none the worse for wear. |

tjpavlik, I too noticed that the fight with JJ, he seemed to not want to throw a punch, but more or less, body slam him to the ice, and end it on pure strength, which I believe he may have an upper hand on JJ in size/height anyways. JJ held his own until the end, and it just made the guy look even more like a chode.

JJ's fight with Sgroi was a no contest, JJ won because Sgroi wussed out.
And JJ's second fight, the other guy just pulled on his jersey. So if Elmira thinks they are tough then why are their fights leaving their players looking like the idiots? |

| I was able to get a few video clips last night... the best is everyone giving Sgroi hell when he's yapping away with the linesman before getting booted. That guy is a cartoon character. |
