Just got a letter from the Cyclones saying that full season tickets for next year are going up to $12/ game, but if you pay 1/3 by March 31, you will get a 25% discount (which would bring it back down to $10/game). In other words you would need to pay $120/seat by then.

Joe Stills informed me today that on April 2,2009 there will be a dinner at US Bank Arena for people who will purchase season tickets for next year. Hosted by Coach Chuck Weber. There will be more info for coming in the next few weeks.

The dinner is for those who put down at least 1/3rd of the payment is what I was told by my ticket rep.

Same old story-raise ticket prices and attendance will go down 20%.
I know $12 is still cheap but we are competing against first run
movies, high school sports and other "cheap" entertainment. With our
lousy $10 parking in the garage next door (I know I use the $5 lot
or the public landing when available)and our high prices on weekend
days for beer and food and another $4 for two starts adding up.Does
this mean if we don't cough up the downpayment now that we will get
NO discount on season ticket purchases. The least they could do is
give the current season ticket holders the $10 rate if you pay by
June or July. My job situation is in doubt and if it goes bad, cuts
will have to be made.

Just in case you didn't know, parking across from Game Day Cafe right by the garage is always $5.

The season ticket rate is $10 ($360 for the entire season). The letter says that a deposit of 1/3rd ($120) is due by March 31st.

The letter doesn't specify the "payment plans" that are avaiable.
The letter also didn't mention any discount if paid by a certain date, but the dinner which has been mentioned is probably the perk for the 1/3rd deposit by March 31.

Yeah, the parking across from Game Day is $5, but think about this.

The price to park at USBank last year was $6...
The 2 years prior = $5, if I remember correct.
This year, its $10, with speculation that it counters the lower price of a ticket.

So they are making up (HAVE BEEN) the money lost on the $10 seat with parking, which a majority of people will choose due to convenience.

I may actually be able to get a couple season tickets this time (keep trying each year, but money always ends up short), but Im just wondering if now is the time where this special price of $10 a ticket goes away.

A lot of people that I talk to that dont normally go to games have said "$10 a ticket, you cant beat that, Im gonna come to a few games this year." I just hope the ticket price doesnt scare away these people when it goes up, cause we are not a hockey town, and people really have to be thrown a bone to want to come to games (lower ticket price, obama bobblehead, jersey auction, etc).

I don't think the Cyclones or USBA sees any of the parking money. That garage is owned by the county, and they are just jumping on the bandwagon trying to bleed extra money out.

cyclonesdiehard is right...all parking money goes to the county...at least it did the last time i checked. it's the same for the bengals, reds or any other event downtown; the county adjusts the rate....

Oh, ok. Thanks for the info, I wasnt aware of that. I like many assume that since it is USBank attached to it, that they get the money. Well, strike what I said then LOL

Anybody know about the dinner if you put the 1/3 downpayment by end of the month? Is it just with Coach Weber, some/most/all of the players?

The timing is definitely bad on this...with many NHL teams and other professional sports teams announcing price freezes because of the economy.

It's so bad, the Reds apparently still haven't sold out Opening Day, now offering a deal where you can purchase Opening Day tickets as long as you also purchase the same number of tickets to just ONE of the games during Civil Rights Weekend (June 19-21). Sad.

But hey, the announcement of a price increase means the Cyclones will be around for at least one more year, contrary to what many have said.

Many? Two fools on a near defunct message board count as many?

Tell whatshisface to stick to predicting postal rate increases. Some sources he has

Will they be posting any other announcements about Cincinnati hockey anniverseries soon? Don't let them forget about the big number 3. In a few weeks it'll be 3 years since the Railraiders failed to secure a measly $50,000 in fully refundable, non-binding pseudo "deposits".

The Cyclones are taking some risk in raising prices. However, it is commonly understood that they have been pricing themselves at the bargain basement level. Few other sports franchises can lay claim to that.

The $2 increase may have a small physchological effect on some. For most, the two bucks won't be a deal breaker.

I think it will just be Coach Weber b/c i beleive
that the palyers head home as soon as the season ends. Most of
them don't stick around to long and I even think that there's the
thing about their work visa being up and they can't saty to long
after the season.

I think I remember hearing that the dinner is on Thursday April 2nd. That's before the season ends, so I imagine we might see a few of the players.
