Coming down the stretch, it seems like Desharnais has been struggling quite a bit recently in the AHL. He racked up points in December, January and February when AHL teams had a depleted lineup and had to use five or six ECHLers in their lineup to fill in for guys that were called up or hurt but now that teams have most of their players back he's struggling to get points, like he did earlier in the season. He also didn't rack up many points at the beginning of the season before teams started loosing guys.

A) This ridiculous post should have been placed in the "Alumni" section.

B) He currently ranks SEVENTH among AHL rookies in scoring. He has only notched 3 assits in his past 8 games. Hardly a disaster. Further, Kostitsyn has taken away from DD's pp time since he was sent down from Montreal.

C) Your reasoning and assessment of AHL rosters is too illiterate to be taken seriously. What does "when AHL teams have a depleted line up" mean? The notion that line ups are materially different in March from December is unfounded. Often times rosters become more depleted due to injuries as the season progresses. Anyone but a pitiful shill would know this.

D) He didn't rack up points early in the season because he was on the 3rd line.

E) Your ridiculous attempt to parrot your silly hero donnie duckie makes you look like a loser. Or "looser" as you might spell it.

A jealousy post. Twominutes is jealous that he can't play hockey in a local beer league let alone the AHL.

He was on the third line early in the season and is on the third line again because he's not a first or second line AHL player, except for when Hamilton has a depleted lineup due to injuries and call ups.

Meanwhile Kunitz is on the first line in Pittsburgh as he was with the Stanley Cup winning Anaheim Ducks in 2007.

Hey cyclonesrock, are you going to make the road trip to see Desharnais in Switzerland or Russia in a few years?

I played D-1 in the CCHA... I think I'm overqualified for the beer leagues.

Its amazing that people would be bashing the 3rd leading points player for Hamilton. Desharnais has proved he doesnt belong in the ECHL because of his masterful play in 07-08 and is becoming a great AHL player in what really is his first real shot after 2 small stints in 06-07 with Bridgeport, and 07-08 in Hamilton. Is Desharnais NHL ready? Probably not yet, but he is moving his way up. Only people from Hecklers Grove would care to bring up these stupid posts

Having seen Desharnais play in the AHL, it is quite obvious that he belongs there. Along with Cedric.

Though Desharnais' point production of late hasn't been up to his high standards, he's playing well. But don't take my word for it.http://thespec.com/Sports/article/530649

He’s going to the net. He’s skating, moving his feet and that’s what he’s got to do,” said Bulldogs coach Ron Wilson. “His whole line with Brock Trotter and David Desharnais are all playing well. He’s going to the net and they’re finding him.”

Desharnais is not a great player. He's average. Great players play in the 1st line, no the 3rd. If he plays in more than 10 NHL games in his career I'll buy the Cyclones myself.

How do you make that assessment of DD being a 3rd line player? Have you seen him play? Isn't it interesting that your "3rd line player" is 3rd on his team in scoring.http://stats.theahl.com/stats/statdisplay.php?type=skaters&subType=5&season_id=16&leagueId=4&lastActive=&singleSeason=&confId=0. Also note that only 4 of his 18 goals have been on the power play. Your hero bonnie quackie said that he would be invisible 5 on 5. So much for his vast knowledge.

Sort of sounds like you don't know anything about hockey. D1 player? Blaine Stoughton played beer league in Cincinnati after his WHA and NHL career ended so I wouldn't exactly call you overqualified.

Oh, and btw, link your stats from hockeydb.com. We'd all be interested to see them. This ought to be good.

I might check DD out if he goes to Russia or Switzerland. You see there are jobs in this world which pay more than slave wages you are receiving at KI. Ask duckie for a raise. Even if you get it, it won't get you to Russia. Sorry for your luck.

Balane Stoughton? Try Blaine Stoughton.

I do not, have not, and likely never will work for KI. Nice try though.

Speaking of anonymity, my name is somewhere on this list. Can you guess?? Hint: I'm originally from MI.

It was mentioned this belonged in the "alumni" section.Actually
this might be headed for the "argument" section. If I'm not wrong,
Desharnais is a ROOKIE-not a two or three year AHL vet. I don't
think even Montreal is expecting him to knock on the NHL for at least
two more years. I look for him to move up to 2nd line status in the
AHL next year and possibly get a NHL look in 2011.Same can be said
for Cedrick.I look for next year he will be the FIRST line goalie
and another AHL vet goalie will be moved in for his backup.Their move
to the NHL could be speeded up if Weber is coaching there though !

Why even make this post? You have a player one season out of the ECHL and you come here to bash him because he only "racked up points in December, January and February" before he had the audacity to have his numbers drop off in March (which is still only half over) because a player with NHL experience has cut into his time. How many players could live up to that type of expectation? Give him (and the rest of us) a break.

EDIT - P.S. He had an assist in the first period Sunday.

Twominutes if you are that good why are you not still playing. If hes is just "average" why was he the leading scorer in the ECHL and 7th in the AHL amung rookies?

The struggling (according to bonnie quackie boot licker and no stat link DI hockey star twominnowsworthofintelligence) Desharnais was named the first star in Hamilton's Tuesday night victory over Iowa and is now 4rth in rookie scoring. He scored and goal and added an assist against an obviously depleted Iowa Chops team
