The team gives away more than half of its tickets and still can't attract more than an average of 1,800 people per game, said Siehl. That number is about half of what the Bombers report as their average attendance, a point of contention between the team and Siehl.
Revenue from regular-season ticket sales this season is expected to be $344,469, down from $781,184 in the 2000-01 season, according to Siehl.

And there you have it. The figures which are contained in this article are the 'drop count' figures-those who actually go through the gate. Announced figures are often as bogus as an ENRON financial statement.
The only Cincinnati hockey teams that I've ever seen announce honest attendance figures were the original ECHL Clones at the Gardens and the post-suspension Clones of today at USBA. The Stingers weren't crazy high in announced numbers, but they inflated their numbers to a fairly considerable extent. Too much time has passed for me to have an opinion of the Swords numbers. The IHL Cyclones, Ducks and pre-suspension ECHL Cyclones lied through their teeth on their respective attendance counts. Probably as badly as the Bombers have-100%.
The Cyclones ownership has it right. Announce the true numbers. You may deceive others, but the entire process of lying ultimately serves no purpose other than to misrepresent one's success (or lack thereof) to potential sponsors.

That is really quite interesting, but not of a surprise.
On a positive note, my ticket rep was telling me if the Cyclones get around 14,000 over these last three games, it will boost their average attendance this season to 3,000. a bit of a challenge but they just might do it. |

| By lying about their attendance they ultimatley dug their own grave. I am willing to bet sponsors are more inclined to sponsor a team that says hey on weeknight we might get a 1000, but on the weekends we'll get 5000, and that is no lie. The Cyclones seem to have the dasher boards full, and so maybe their philosphy is working. |

| I think Hobart is a better fit for the bombers because it is smaller, the cyclones even though they play in a 12,000 seat arena they only really sell the lower bowl which brings it down to almost 7,000 but of course if you sell the whole arena like for the finals thats what a big arena is for. I have actually been very impressed with the weekday attendance the second half of the year minus the snowy days they have been quite respectable. |

| I think the snow days killed us attendance wise. We'd probably rank a little higher in the attendance poll if those hadn't happened and more people could've gone. |

All I can say to that is OUCH! I still hope they find a way to pull out of this nosedive.

My heart says yes and my gut says no way. Lets see what kind of a start they can get tonight.

I don't think most Bombers fans were surprised by any of that. However, Hobart is not the answer for pro-hockey. Attendance for those games wasn't very good this season, either, which was probably due to distance. I'd say Hara would be the better option. Roughly the same size, and close to I-75 and 35.

A ticket rep tonight said that he expected around 4000 for Friday. For Saturday, I suggested that the game might draw 8000. The rep said that over 5000 tickets have already been sold and that if the weather is as expected a walk up of 4-5000 could be expected.
It is conceivable that the Saturday crowd could be 10,000+. |

I seem to remember the IHL Cyclones announcing correct attendance. Until the final season. They drew nice crowds, there was no need for them to lie. Even the pre-suspension Clones announced embarrassingly low attendance figures.
The one thing that hurts attendance most, I think, is the fact they they have so many weeknight games. Sunday - Thursday nights do not draw good crowds. Although it is a reality when you play in a mulit-use arena and have concert tours going in and out of that place throughout the week. |

I agree that the weekday games hurt them but I also object to them exclusively focusing their weekday promotions on cheap beer. I realize I am older then their target audience but I would much prefer the option to buy a soft drink at the same $1 price. I also generally don't have time to eat before a weekday game and I would be more inclined to come to weekday games if I could eat relatively inexpensively. Dollar soft drinks and dollar hotdogs on week nights would probably change me from a half season ticketholder to a full season ticketholder.
And while I am on my soap box... I really want to know why they announce the groups attending every game but they never mention season ticket holders or the fan club. I would think they would want to recognize both groups at every opportunity. |

The Cyclones aren't ran by experienced managers of making all groups happy. I think they need a very nice well written letter expressing the thoughts of thanking the Fan Club, and Season Ticket holders at every game.
I also think they should always being pushing season ticket sales, and the next game ticket sales. For example instead of the "Chug Cam" Have buy your season tickets now behind section whatever, and don't forget fans game Friday night buy your seats now to guarantee the best seat. |
