Okay, had to get that out of our system. As bad as the officiating was tonight we flat out beat ourselves. The first period had a few defensive breakdowns resulting in two goals but we were swarming around their net and playing ok. Syroczynski takes a boarding major (and misconduct ?!?) called by the LINESMAN and the wheels flat out fell off.

Two steps behind and passes tape to, well anywhere but to tape. Several centering attempts went right through the crease to no one. We lost more battles in the corners than we won.

On the plus side, Loic looked fairly solid in net making a few very good saves (It could have been 7-1 very easily) and Jake Dietrich plays 110% in whatever role he happens to be playing.

The officiating was almost Pro Wrestling quality. The boarding call was especially crappy. (Where was the call on Wheeling in the scuffle?) I got the feeling that Charron wanted to keep his whistle in his pocket but felt he was losing control in the third so he made a few "Law and Order" type calls.

However the reason we lost is the offense failed to show up, which was typical in the regular season that first game back after a break. I was hoping we could skip that tendency in the playoffs, but no. Okay, we had our crappy game, now lets come out and win the next four!

As a final note I hope we don't lose Syroczynski for a 1 game suspension after the league reviews things. That would make a bad call even worse!

An awful game played by our Cyclones. I have never seen so many passes to the skates of our players instead of ahead of them where they could make a play. It broke their stride, and then they had to look down to find the puck leaving them open for a big hit. We need to get our heads out of the anal cavitiy, and start playing some hockey. I think the refs were not the greatest, but we can't blame bad play on bad officiating. LETS GO CYCLONES WIN GAME 2!

I'll bet Chico is gone for a game. We were talking about that after they announced the game misconduct.

I agree with the crap calls. But you got to admit, Darling played one heck of a game in goal. He really made some quality saves. Hopefully that will wake the boys up. They have been notorious lately for lose a game-win a game.

...And on the eighth day, GOD created the Cyclones!

The guys just played like they were going through the motions. I wanna know how Ehgo gets held down and gets a penalty? And where is the Wheeling penalties for the multiple times that they grabbed our players from behind by their necks and tried to drag them to the ice?

Here's my take on the game: Frankly I wanted to go 12 rounds with the ref. Other than that, the Clones looked back and forth between wanting to play for keeps and playing for something else. However, the stratagy should have changed when Wheeling was really beating us physically around the boards and were really wanting this win more than us.

In the end, I just hope that this was a wake up call for the team and a call to arms for the fans to do whatever it takes to win tomorrow. Although we are now down 1-0, it is just that: one game played, 4 wins to go.

Let's go Cyclones!

I couldn't find any fault with the effort. We outshot Wheeling significantly, but we didn't have all that many quality scoring chances by my eye.

Wheeling has some quick snipers and they can be lethal. Ask TJ MacElroy. Does TJ take his toast with butter? We know that he took it burnt given that he was beaten twice in 30 seconds. He's a great player for us and he made quite sure he wasn't beaten again for the last two periods

No concern in this corner yet. The Cyclones haven't lost two games in a row since January 9th. I'd expect far more crisp passing and Salekin to be in the line up as well on Friday.

Very nice crowd. Biggest week night crowd of the year. Last year's Reading series (all week days) drew 1583, 1809, 1693 and 2523 (game 7 of the series). This crowd was significant to me in that the ticket increase didn't appear to keep many away. Perhaps some weren't aware of it and only found out once at the box office.

Charlotte drew 818 in their playoff opener this evening.

I do have it upon high authority that 2375 of the tickets were comped this evening-2 minnows told me. So, I was the only sucker who actually paid for the game. How about that!

I mean the whole dump and chase thing. It has worked really well for us in the past and it just really started to hit me towards the end that we needed to try something else tonight as far as getting the puck in the zone.

The effort was there and I am not downplaying that at all, but at the same time I feel like the guys didn't try other ways around the defense that Wheeling has. This is my take on the game, others will disagree i'm sure though.

I think Darling had alot of great saves tonight that people don't realize although we had some areas on our side. I'm sure we'll be better tomorrow night, especially with more fans in the arena to cheer them on.

Oh the guy had some awesome saves. In the 3rd he had a few pucks fly straight up and land behind him and he was aware enough to whack them away or fall right on top of it. Guy played awesome, I think for us though we need to start Nie and give him a shot because he was the hot hand against J-Town.

I was listening to the game at home & you should have heard John! At one point, his comment about Charron was "Now he's sucking the whistle instead of blowing it!" He was totally unhappy about Chico's game ejection.

I have to agree with the statement that the guys seem lackluster in their play when there's been more than a couple of days off.

No need to panic yet. Last year against Reading, we lost the first game and won the series in 7. Now if we lose tonight, maybe we should hit the panic button.

What you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

I would have to agree with POFF34 and HRC666. I really couldn't find to much fault with the boys' effort. Wheeling seems to like to stack people between the blue lines making you dump the puck more, and when a goalie is making the saves Darling was, it's an uphill battle.

I'm confident they will come out tonight and Coach will have a game plan and ready to go.

Now we know how Johnstown felt the last game against Nie.Darling
was on his game and it was a Wednesday or Thursday in Cincinnati.
Look at our worst played games for the season and they seem to be
the mid week games. The loss of Syroczynski killed our power-play.
Ever since we roasted him on this board,he really has stepped his
game up.The problem I saw was not that we didn't deserve our
penalties but instead the problem was Wheeling was getting away with
all the same penalties with no calls.Justin was repeatedly tripped
and no calls. We have a man drug down on a breakaway and no call. Our
player gets sucker punched in the back of the head IN FRONT OF THE
REFEREES and no call! Biggest beef last night is with the fabulous
brainchilds of the Cyclones.Go up during the 2nd-3rd period break to
get my Friday tickets and it is CLOSED !!! They shut down at the start
of the 2nd period. You want our business but you have 4 ticket agents
standing around in the booth talking season tickets for next year
but no one selling tickets for tomorrows game !
