I was wondering about if or should the Clones go for the ECHL all star game? We just won the Kelly Cup last year and it has been a while since the last all star game was held in Cincy? An Ehgoetz goal for your thoughts anyone.

I was referring to an all star game in the future. I know that next year's been set, but how about a few years after that.

I'd like to see it. I really thought we had a chance with our improved attendance, secure future vs most teams, close rivals with Dayton and Toledo. I figured it'd bring in an easy 9k. But Dayton is gone and I somehow feel it will go to the South in 2011. With our luck it will be the same year the Reds get it. So that way it be over shadowed. lol jk

It could possibly be the 2011 ASG, but I think with Toledo having a new arena maybe they'll get it.

Its a disgrace that the ECHL wont recognize Cincinnati, even after a Kelly Cup, being one of just a couple teams to maintain an INCREASE in ATTENDANCE, among other attributes to being a great organization, and we cant get an All-Star game here.

Forget that Ontario got a "new arena." Thats a b.s. excuse to give someone the ASG. Reading had it this year, I believe, and who was it last year? Both teams that didnt have sqwat to show for, and yet, they pulled in an ASG.

Its got something more to do with it, our team just hasnt found it out yet. We deserve the recognition more than any team. Coming out of being folded to being a SUCCESS!

I could easily see an All-Star game being awarded to USBA within the next 5 seasons or so. Significant increased attendance every year since the team has returned, plus the league knows what kind of big crowds can accommodate big events (11K fan appreciation night, 12K last year's final Championship game just to name a few). There was of course the IHL All-Star Game here at "The Crown" in 99 which was a successs ... of course that wouldn't have any impact now, but I guess it could be something they could look back on. Also, I know it is the arena's responsibility to make a request to host an All-Star game, but I would at least like to see it in a new spot every year. They have been pretty good on spreading it around but I don't want to see Reading get a THIRD in the near future ...

Until this team gets a substantial season ticket base or our crowds average in the 4500 range, then bringing the All Star game here could create a major embaressment.

Reading announced something like 5000 for the attendance. For those who watched it on B2, it was pretty clear that nowhere near that many were there. Even an established and relatively successful franchise like the Royals found the game to be a tough sell.

Hosting the All Star game isn't anything I think the Cyclones would be interested at this point in time. Continuing to build attendance and create awareness of the team should be the only focus of the staff. All Star games are nice, but they're the gravy. We're still working on the meat and potatos.

A team winning a championship wouldnt give you enough cause to look into an ASG in your town? What more are you looking for?

I think the Cyclones would have a major draw, 6-7000 Im sure. Not as many as a Reds ASG, but definitely more than if Paul Brown Stadium threw a Pro-bowl or something similar, but we all know Hawaii has that tied up forever.

If our Clones make the Kelly Cup again this year (which I fully expect) then I say a request for the 2011 ASG would be in the top 3 moves to come next by the organization...>Again, why not?

I'm looking for a paid attendance much higher than it is now and a signficant season ticket base. The weekend games were dynamite for attendance this season. The Cyclones averaged 5985 in their 10 post Jan 1 weekend games. That compares with a 5203 draw for last year's post Jan 1 games (excluding two blizzard games). That amounts to a 15% increase.

Could the Cyclones possibly draw 6-7000 for the AS Game? Probably. But at $12 per ticket they would incur a huge loss. I don't think people would shell out the $25 or so a ticket to make the event feasible. We have a very small season ticket base and that base would provide very little in the way of certain sales for the game. It would be a difficult and time-consuming sell for the Cyclones staff. It's not worth the time nor the financial risk, imo.

Once again, the focus of the staff should be on growing attendance at all games. Great strides have been made, but much more needs to be done to insure a long term future for the team. Efforts spent on securing and promoting an ASG would significantly deter the staff from what should be their primary focus.

Hosting an ASG has nothing to do with the on ice success of the team. The ability to easily attract a large paying audience is the primary requirement for the host team. We're not there. Yet.

During the regular season, isn't the ASG the only game that the ECHL makes any money off of? I know the playoffs are that way.

I'm sure they look at attendance too....We definately do not have the best, though we don't fugde it like Dayton...I don't think enough people in Cincinnati has interest in a minor league ASG. The Reds can't even get one here...though if they did, they wouldn't have anyone playing in it..

Yep. The ASG is a moneymaker for the league.
