I too was about to say DOWN WITH THE CAPS!!!! lol cMan
And speaking of the game, i moved down behind the WHL penalty box and just gave hell to their guys AND Sweeney. Katy's mom was sitting there, her FIRST game ever, and I felt bad that she had to watch a 6-0 loss that way, but oh well. Game 7 is another 60 mins of hockey that both teams need to show up for and play....We will prevail!
Speaking of Celine Dion, anyone hear that she's interested in buying our parent club, the Montreal Canadians!!!! God, we'll have pink jersey's on more than just one night a year now LOL jk |

| I'll say one thing about Mondays game....I'm tired of spotting them the first goal, I hadn't even settled down in my seat yet.......howabout scoring first on Monday, Clones? and maybe we can all save alittle of our fingernails, and maybe have us all sit back in our seats and not on the edge...maybe 1 time this series...How about it? |

I thought it was just a very strange hockey game.
Loic Lacasse, who has been solid as a rock for us, couldn't squeeze a relatively easy shot and a few seconds later it's 1-0 40 seconds into the game.
The Cyclones then swarmed Darling-they had 9 shots on goal before the game was 10 minutes old.
Goal number two was an oddball. Ryan looked like he was contained by O'Hanley and somehow the puck got through Loic.
Then Sweeny took over. Quesnele gets called for a questionable hold and then Denis for a ridiculous non-hook. Nailers capitalize on both ends of the PP. Sweeny dug us that hole. After the Cyclones couldn't score after putting loads of pressure on Darling in the second and Johnson made it 5-0, it was a lost cause. I thought our chippiness in the third period was outstanding.
We hit plenty of posts and had plenty of opportunites. We just couldn't score. The guys just aren't sharp. Kilpatrick and especially Van Guilder are off. I hope that Van Guilder isn't hitting the wall. Sometimes that happens with first year pros who come from the collegiate ranks and aren't accustomed to the length of a pro season. I'd love to see someone other than Dietrich with Kilpatrick and Sproat. Jake's got a killer work ethic, but his puck skills are, quite frankly, not very good. Felix or Faulkner or Santorelli would add to Sproat and Kilpatrick's effectiveness.
Another factor which is probably not known to many is that the Cyclones bussed to Wheeling three seperate times this week. That may have taken a bit of a toll on them. They'll have a full day to recuperate and rid themselves of that "bus lag".
This team has shown incredible heart and character. The won their last 4 games to clinch first place. They won 3 in a row to dig themselves out of an 0-2 hole when many other teams would have folded. They have responded positively to their "gut checks". Wheeling has not-they tanked their last two regular season games and are just lucky to be here.
I see a ton of character in this team. Tonight was a very oddball game and I fully expect the team to respond on Monday when all the chips are in. They haven't failed themselves so far when it has been crunch time. |

Well, everyone can pig-pile on the Ol' Cloneinator, but anyone who believes the officiating was the cause of the fiasco we saw tonight needs to think again. Granted it was bad, but the game tone was set when Loic completely misplayed the puck in the first period leading to the first goal, and things went down hill from there. And if you don't get under Darlings skin quick, and if you allow him to get set, well, we all know it can be a long night.
Frankly, the way these two teams have played at home, I don't believe either one will last against Elmira or Trenton. And no matter who wins this series, the other team will say "If we could have just won one at home..."
Incidentally, as many years as I have been attending hockey games, I have NEVER left with 16 minutes to go in a game due to the home team stinking the place up like I saw tonight.
Oh well, say Goodnight, Grace... |

| Here's my 2 cents. I've been ditched by my brother at clones games twice in a period of 1 year by either not showing up as promised (game 6 of the Kelly Cup series) or leaving me and his girlfriend at Gameday Cafe after the last regular season game this year. So tonight's fiasco isn't getting under my skin. However, the Clones must realize that Monday is a do or die game. Do succeed and go defend the division crown or be eliminated. Any way, I still have more faith in the Clones than with my own awful brother. |

| A loss is a loss, if it was 6-0 or 1-0. The players have to put this game behind them and look forward to Monday. I still have faith in the team. They have come a long way since game 1. We have had a great run and Im not ready for this season to be over quite yet. Saying that, as many have said that was the worst hockey game ive seen EVER. Shots were there but quality shots were not. The Clones need to score first and sail to a win...if we dont look for a early golf season. |

My meaningless $0.2 ...
Give credit where it's due. Darling. Stopped 40 shots or whatever the total ended up being. Looked like he did in the first two games of the series but even better, which is scary. Along with a softie or two, Lacasse suffered a few on Wheeling PPs which he couldn't do much about, but I think Weber pulled the chain anyway just to try to motivate the team as there was a lot of time left. In the end it was probably a smart move so Nie can get some playing time in if he's going to get the start Monday (which I assume he will). Sweeney was awful, however we had too many chances in the second to not capitalize on, including a couple of 5-on-3s. That being said, he pretty much gave us virtually no shot at a come back in the third.
Let us not forget that last season's game 7 against Reading was also a MONDAY at HOME. I know the latter part doesn't give you much confidence because we need the "road ice advantage" to win it seems, but just throwing a little optimism about there and we can breath a little easier. |

Nailers scored three us when we were full strength (at least thats what the game sheet says) so you can't exactly blame the whole loss on referees and Loic. I'd say half referees and the other half on defense. (And MacDonald wasn't the only one messing up out there before everyone here starts bashing on him for everything, it was a team loss.)

Quesnele definitely without a doubt deserved that call. He was pulling on a nailers jersey. Barrett also deserved his at the end where he was nugging a nailer with his stick to egg him on. |

do or die game...gee, you think?
I would haved pulled lacasse after the first two, real obvious he wasn't on his game, wasn't moving well at all. Heck, he dropped the very first shot and that one almost snuck in. It happens, but I think Chuck waited to long to make the change... |

1. 1st goal matt "-2" macdonld lets his guy go and the wheeling player then goes and causes trouble in front of lacasse.
2. 2nd goal matt "-2" macdonald lets the wheeling forward push him all the way down to the bottom of the face off dot on a 2 on 2. by the time matt had put any pressure on him the pass had long been made.
3. wheelings PP is good..can't afford to give them a 5 on 3
4. matt "-2" macdonald spins around like a figure skater failing to touch the puck or a wheeling player leading to yet another wheeling goal.
5. did i mention that matt "-2" macdonald was on the ice for 4 of wheelings 6 goals. where is the ahl superstar everyone is talking about. even in wheeling when everyone was giving him BJ's for how great he played he still was responsible for leaving his line mate staring at several odd man rushes that were shut down by offsides calls. 2 were even on PPs. i'm not sure what is worse at this point macdonald or miller. don't get me wrong i'm not putting it all on matt, but for a guy who spent 50+ games in the ahl he's spending a lot of time backing up giving wheeling players pace, sure he hits people but it's usually after the fact. after returning from the ahl last year conrad was railing people into the half wall on 2 on 2 rushes.
6. what was up with o'hanely tonite....
7. here is my propblem with the officiating. 6 out of 9 penalties in the 1st were on the cyclones. in the 2nd 5 out of 5 were on wheeling. in the 3rd it was tit for tat. if that's how it really went it is the 1st game i've ever witnessed where each team was responsible for the majority of one period each and then alternated penalties in a period....rumor has it that joey earnst, head of echl officials, was seen leaving the refs locker room and heading down the hall to the cyclones locker room (he may or may not have been wearing knee pads).
7. top to bottom it looked like the guys were skating not to lose rather than skating to win...
8. 2 more things on the officiating. on the 6th goal; when a veteran linesman skates over to the ref and asks for an explanation on why it was a goal, it might mean that the referee is a bit clueless. also, the last time i checked, the home team was supposed to receive the advantage on faceoffs, meaning that the cyclones center puts his stick down 2nd, yet the linesmen were continually making the 'clones put their sticks down first. if anyone has any info that can clarify this last point, i'm all ears.... |

If anyone thinks this is the worst game ever played by a Cyclones team then they haven't been fans for long. I can remember a year of Chris Cohcicca how ever you spell his last name? That whole season sucked a$$. For tonight's game it was bad from the get go. The D was sloppy and for quality shots well I seen maybe 10 out of the 40. It seems like 30 of them was right at the wheelings logo on the goalie's chest. And for our buddy Sweeney I heard that he had a long talk with his boss Erist after the game on all the bad calls. I also have a ? and need some help?? It was on the call when WHL was on the PP think in the 3rd and the Clones shot the puck down by the goalie to clear the zone but they got an odd man rush out of it and they blew the play dead? it wasn't off sides or icing and I didn't see what they called. I ask the goal judge and he didn't know either. If anyone knows what I'm talking about all the help would be great. Let's not give up on this team yet. Monday is a new day and The home team needs to win at lease one don't you think?(fingers crossed)

I have been a fan for a while too (middle of the IHL run, not as long as some, but I've been around) and you're correct about 03-04 ... I came into it with a lot of optimism with former IHL Clones behind the bench and in goal (Petruk) ... but we all know how that worked out. And to cap it all off, the glorious "fan appreciation night" where we were awarded the great USBA water bottles!
I've seen a lot of bad (one of the first that comes to my head was a 8-1 loss in Indianapolis, but maybe it was just that much worse since we drove up for it), but tonight's game is up there. Shut out, give up 6, capitalize on 0 of 10 power plays, commit 13 penalties yourself. And the fact that this was the third home loss in the series just made it sting even worse. Also, I know EXACTLY what that play was you're referring to, and I have no idea whatsoever what the call was, or even what it was supposed to be ... |

| yeah now that you mention it the 03-04 Clones sucked more ass than tonight's clones... we finished dead last... in a nine team division nonetheless... and Chris Chihocki couldnt coach my teeball team with the team we had! The San Jose Sharks were our affiliates at the time and they didnt give us any help whatsoever, and the whole season went down the drain very quickly! We had a terrible game tonight... it could have been worse... I still think it was the worst game effortwise ive ever seen though |
