Any Wheeling fan knows what Darling can do when he's on his game. And fortunatley for us, he's been on his game in Cincy. But when he's not good, he's horrible. He could give up nine tonight and I wouldn't bat an eye. I just hope he can stay hot and the offense does what I know they can do.
Good luck to both teams. I missed my ride to USBA tonight, but I'd say there will be a decent turnout of Wheeling fans, especially considering it's a weeknight.

ClonesFan, interesting, your point about why I get into sports, I often wonder about that myself. certainly with the economy one would wonder why we even care about sports. I have always had to bite my bottom lip when other fans come to our building, I had to stop going to away games. I certainly could have found myself fighting with other fans from time to time
You want to know about hurt? Cyclones/Solar Bears, Dave Marcinyshyn, we were up by 1, all Dave had to do was clear the puck, but I think he saw the empty net at the other end. he dropped it down to his stick, really all he needed to do was bat it out over the line, but the Solar Bears ended up scoring and winning in overtime, We lost that series in the end and the Solar Bears went on to win it all. actually the same Solar Bears that Weber was a part of. that my friend was painful. So I have been there for the best of time...last year, and the worst of times. Solar Bears series....oh and 2001, so don't lecture me about what a fair weather fan is. I kinda like to think that I'm part of the Old school. I don't know you or your history, but unless you've been there since 1991 like I have, I would refrain from lumping me up in the fair weather fan thing |

Thanks, I see no point in being a blatant homer. And I'm all about the Cyclones taking it all in the event Wheeling can't anyway, so if my guys are bowing out, I hope it's to your team.
I think Charron is a good ref for Game 7. He's not usually whistle happy like Sweeney and some others. And considering what this game means, stupid penalties should be at a minimum, so if he just calls what needs called, instead of trying to be the #1 star of the game, it should be up to the teams to determine who wins.
There's nothing wrong with letting borderline stuff go, but when you go missing high sticks or calling penalties on the retaliations of your no-calls, then you're not doing your job. I'd take Charron over anyone else I've seen call this series. |

I didn't put you in there, you did yourself. I said IF YOU CAN MAKE IT you should. And you can't due to sick kids. I'm just saying all these ppl who want to come here and say this is their team when they win but want to stay way from them when they lay a stink bomb like Saturday. I have been going to Cyclones games since 95-96 season not as long as you but I have been there for ever game since my 1st one. I never like hockey until I went to my 1st game and was hooked. Watching it on TV was boring to me back then. But I went and sat 3 rows from the ice and I have been back ever since then. I have been to game 3 days after I have had a surgery. I even have put of a few for BIG game like tonight's. I have pissed of family B/C I went to Cyclones games over weddings. You may think it stupid but hey this is my team and I'm here for them WIN or Lose .I hope your kids get better and I will see you on Friday night for the 2nd round of the playoffs. GO CYCLONES |

I believe there was 2500 for last year's Monday night game 7 against Reading.
Keep in mind, last year there was a Reds game going on right next door during game 7 vs. Reading. The Reds are out of town, so that might help a little. |

| Agreed, sorry I was so defensive, I suppose I "ASS"-u"ME"d you lumped me into that catagory. I'm sorry, forgive me! I have some confidence about tonight. I have found this team to be a roller coaster at times, and the times we are low...real low, I just cannot take watching it, because I know they can play better, but like you said, it's the risk of being a fan. Hopefully you can see my side. I hope you see the same team that dropped a 5-6 spot on Johnstown a couple of weeks ago. have a safe trip to and from, Go Clones.....regards Scuba |

They obviously did enough in the regular season that they could back into the playoffs. The Nailers are a very talented team, whether you want to believe it or not. When they play a full game, they can and probably will beat anyone in this league. The defense and goaltending have been weaknesses, and for whatever reason, those units have stepped up at USBA this series. There's no shame in losing to this year's Wheeling team. I think the 'Clones get the win tonight, but if they don't, it's not like a bad team beat them.
Goaltending has been a weakness... Wow, I hope to hear that weakness tonight. Man, Darling has been nothing short of a stud during hsi visits to USBA in this round. If the Nailers happen to win tonight and Darling continues to play like he has here, I can see you guys going all the way. A hot goalie can take you deep in the playoffs. Obviously I want the 'Clones to win, but if they don't I'd pull for Wheeling. If we don't advance, I want to be knocked out by the best. |
Never argue with an idiot. He'll drag you down to his level and then beat you with experience

| Darling stopped 162 of 166 shots at USBA. A save percentage of .976. His gaa at USBA was under 1. If there were a series MVP, it's him and everyone else is two miles behind him. |

ClonesNKY, I think you are right to say fair weather fans run wild in this city. I also think that SCUBA has all but proven his loyalty to the Cyclones.
I had CLASS tonight, and although, I was not able to skip to go to what ended up being the most important game of the year, I rushed to a computer, rushed home when I could to get an update. I got home to my gf listening to it on B2. Couldnt get it to work to WATCH it, which drove me absolutely CRAZY!!! Great game.
I just dont like people saying they wont show up due to a previous game. I can remember a lot of games this year that gave a bad after taste, but the idea that this team could overcome is what draws you back in.
People all around were saying "Its over" after game 2 of this series, and that ANGERED me more than anything. Those people feel silly at this point, but I do believe that they will be forgiven as we all love our Cyclones.
People also knocked on Syro this year, and I think he has all but proven those people WRONG. Even though he's not "NHL" material in most of the hockey world's eyes, he's been all the difference maker in big situations and has proven his DESIRE to play/win for this team/city.

Hey Scuba, I remember that series! That was my second year of following hockey, and that series absolutely ripped my heart out. I've been paranoid ever since about attending game sevens. I reckon' it's a phobia of mine.
My sister and brother in law practically had to drag me to my first game because I told them "I don't even like hockey." My first game was against the Kalamazoo Wings which we won 5-4 in a shoot-out and I was hooked!
I've been trying to remember what year that was we played Orlando in that series. Do you remember the year?
Look me up sometime at the game. |
...And on the eighth day, GOD created the Cyclones! |

| Another front page story along with two pictures on the front page, and two more inside on the actual story. I believe this was much better coverage than last year's first round coverage ... it took getting closer to the Kelly Cup before we started getting write ups to these degrees. Keep it going ... |
