CINCINNATI, Ohio – The Cincinnati Cyclones announced this morning that they have signed forward Jimmy Kilpatrick to a contract for the 2009-10 season. The Cyclones are the ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Montreal Canadiens and Nashville Predators.
Kilpatrick, 24, played in the first two games of last season with Las Vegas, before being traded to the Cyclones on October 22. Jimmy erupted for 24 goals and 25 assists for 49 points in 43 games with Cincinnati. He also appeared in three games with Houston (AHL). During the Kelly Cup playoffs, he netted a pair of goals and handed out 14 assists for 16 points in 15 postseason contests.
The six-foot, 187 pound native of New Prague, MN, collegiately at Colorado College, appearing in 148 games and registering 109 points on 37 goals and 72 assists over four seasons. Colorado College recorded two Western Collegiate Hockey Association regular season championships during his time there and compiled a 101-53-10 mark (.646 winning percentage). The right-handed shot was also selected at the end of his senior season to participate in the NCAA’s Frozen Four Skills Competition at the national championship finals. Jimmy played junior hockey with Green Bay (USHL) and assembled a 21 goal season during 2003-04—his final campaign in the league.
“Jimmy Kilpatrick developed into one of the top offensive threats in the ECHL a year ago,” Cyclones Head Coach Chuck Weber said. “We look forward to his continued development and improvement on last season.”
The addition of Jimmy Kilpatrick brings the number of players on the Cyclones roster to 13. He join forwards Hans Benson, Jonathan Duchesneau, Barret Ehgoetz, Adam Krug, Matt Pierce, Brett Robinson, Dustin Sproat and Mark Voakes and defensemen Jamie Coghlan, Kirk Medernach, Brian O’Hanley and Jason Woll.
Tickets for the 2009-10 Cincinnati Cyclones season are now on sale. The Cyclones Sales Department can be reached at 513-421-PUCK, extension 3. The Cyclones open the season at Elmira on Friday, October 16 and after three road games, host their home opener at U.S. Bank Arena against Wheeling on Saturday, October 24 at 7:30pm. There will be a special divisional championship banner raising ceremony prior to that game.

| Great signing. Enjoy him while we have him. I'm sure it won't be long before he gets called up to the "A." |
...And on the eighth day, GOD created the Cyclones! |

Signing Jimmy Kilpatrick is a very positive step. Hopefully his injuries have healed and he will return to his regular season form with us before an AHL team comes and snatches him up. Maybe this will influence MVG to pull the trigger with us as well.
Pierce and Robinson's numbers look favorable with Pierce being a possible scoring forward and Robinson as a defensive forward.
The common thread with all this years' signings seems to be is that all the players seem to be good character guys; good teammates and decent guys off the ice. Hopefully thats the winning formula for another championship team. |

According to this article, Van Guilder has already signed a 2 way deal with Milwaukee and is fighting for his spot on the team.

SS: We know Preds camp opens September 12th. When do we find out about the guys that weren't invited to the Preds camp, guys like Stephen Werner, James Sixsmith, Geoff Peters, etc?
LL: It gets to be later September. Our training camp opens September 22nd. We're going to bring in eight-to-ten free agent players, and at least four more guys that we've signed to two way contracts with Cincinnati. That is when you will start to get a better idea of some of these players - like Mark Van Guilder for example. He's on a two-way contract with us now. He's fighting for a position on our team. If not, he's certainly a call-up guy for us. We'll get a real good picture of that in the 4 or 5 days after training camp opens up and we have those games against Chicago.
