CINCINNATI, Ohio – The Cincinnati Cyclones, ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Montreal Canadiens and Nashville Predators, announced this morning they have agreed to terms with defenseman Doug Krantz and forward Kenton Dulle for the 2009-10 season.

Krantz, 26, played his rookie season last year with Wheeling. He appeared in 66 games with the Nailers and tallied three goals and 21 assists for 24 points during the campaign. Two of his goals, ironically, came against the Cyclones in a 10-4 loss to Cincinnati on January 17. Doug also played in seven Kelly Cup playoff games, netting a goal and adding three assists for four points. Wheeling was edged in seven games by Cincinnati in the North Division semifinals. His rights were secured in a trade with Alaska in exchange for forward Justin Johnson on August 3.

The six-foot-three, 195 pound native of Marysville, BC, earned four varsity letters at Cornell University, where he was a teammate for two seasons with former Cyclones defenseman Jon Gleed. Krantz played in 131 games with the Big Red and collected 15 goals and 23 assists for 38 points. Doug played the 2003-04 season with Alberni Valley (BCHL) and picked up eleven goals and 34 assists for 45 points in 60 games.

Dulle, 21, finished his junior career with Kamloops (Western Hockey League) playing in 65 games for the Blazers and tallying 24 goals and 35 assists for 59 points while adding 92 penalty minutes. He was also Kamloops’ leading scorer in the postseason with three goals and a pair of assists for five points. Kenton registered three multiple goal games in the regular season to go with 13 multiple point contests. He had a 14-game point streak (8-13-21) from October 26 through December 10.

The five-foot-eleven, 170 pound native of Regina, SK, played four seasons in the WHL between Vancouver, Saskatoon and Kamloops. Dulle posted 50 goals and 60 assists for 110 points and 202 penalty minutes in 192 career games. Kenton registered 45 goals and 51 assists during his final two years in the league.

“Fans will remember that Doug Krantz played solid defensively for Wheeling last season,” Cyclones Head Coach Chuck Weber said. “We look for that to continue this season. Kenton Dulle comes highly regarded from Kamloops and we are glad he will be in Cincinnati to launch his professional career.”

The addition of Doug Krantz and Kenton Dulle brings the number of players on the Cyclones roster to 15. They join forwards Hans Benson, Jonathan Duchesneau, Barret Ehgoetz, Jimmy Kilpatrick, Adam Krug, Matt Pierce, Brett Robinson, Dustin Sproat and Mark Voakes and defensemen Jamie Coghlan, Kirk Medernach, Brian O’Hanley and Jason Woll.

Tickets for the 2009-10 Cincinnati Cyclones season are now on sale. The Cyclones Sales Department can be reached at 513-421-PUCK, extension 3. The Cyclones open the season at Elmira on Friday, October 16 and after three road games, host their home opener at U.S. Bank Arena against Wheeling on Saturday, October 24 at 7:30pm. There will be a special divisional championship banner raising ceremony prior to that game.
