CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Cincinnati Cyclones, ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Montreal Canadiens and Nashville Predators, announced this afternoon they have placed three players on waivers. The moves come as the Cyclones approach the ECHL's opening night roster deadline of Wednesday (Oct. 14).
Forwards Sam Bloom and Travis Winter, along with defenseman Jason Woll have all been placed on waivers. Any team in the ECHL has until 5pm on Monday to claim any of these rookie players. After that, they become unrestricted free agents.
The Cyclones currently have 25 players in camp and will prepare for their season opening game on Friday night (Oct. 16) at Elmira. The game will be carried on 1530-AM The Sports Animal with a 7pm air time. More cuts are expected in the days ahead.
Tickets for the 2009-10 Cincinnati Cyclones season are now on sale. The Cyclones Sales Department can be reached at 513-421-PUCK, extension 3. The Cyclones open the season at Elmira on Friday, October 16 and after three road games, host their home opener at U.S. Bank Arena against Wheeling on Saturday, October 24 at 7:30pm. There will be a special divisional championship banner raising ceremony prior to that game.

I really liked Bloom in the one preseason game I got to see. Also I don't see how there can be a worse defenseman than Jamie Coghlan on the team.
I'm definitely looking forward to seeing a Cyclones game that means something. The 24th can't get here soon enough |

| I was surprised with Jason Woll +18 in just 10 games last year I think he will get a shot somewhere else. |

The Cyclones are loaded on 'D' so somebody worthwhile had to be released.
Woll will hook up with someone else. He was +7 (18 pim) in 10 regular season games and is an imposing physical presence. I'm sure Weber was none too pleased to have to let him go.
Coghlan is a very solid stay-at-home defenseman. I'm hoping he makes the final cut, but the competition for the spots behind Zinger, Jozsa and Cashman is fierce. Someone who is a very capable ECHL defenseman of those remaining in camp will have to be released. |

I was real surprised to see Jason cut myself. I thought he was pretty solid, but I agree with HRC...somebody had to be released and Coach certainly has shown he knows what he is doing.
I am actually wondering if Hans makes it. One assist is 35 games does not show him to be much of an offensive threat. I do like how he went after the puck when he was on the ice at the preseason game. |
...And on the eighth day, GOD created the Cyclones! |

| Hopefully Weber can mold Hans the way he worked with JJ last year. Main objective to be the enforcer, however not be dead weight offensively and actually get some points. He did show some hustle during the game down here, and seemed to take care of business up there the next night. |
