The Christmas break didn't slow down the Desharnais freight train. In the two post Christmas games he has 2 goals and 3 assists. He's now second in team scoring--25 points in 19 games. He's one point behind Brock Trotter who has played in 12 more games than DD. DD has more goals (13) than assists (12). This is amazing given his propensity to pass rather than shoot. It would be interesting to know if his assist total isn't as high due to teammates' inability to finish plays. It's just odd to think of Desharnais with the goals to assists ratio that he currently has.
Desharnais was the #1 star in last night's game:

Former Cyclone Ben Gordon scored his first AHL goal in the game while playing for Toronto.
Desjardins did not play in the Dec 26th loss to Rochester. He was the winner in last night's game. His GAA is an astounding 1.55 and his save percentage is 94%.
He's won 7 straight. His last loss was a 1-0 loss over a month ago.
Tres bon Ceddy et DD!! |

| In whatever league they eventually wind up in, that's truly impressive! |

Must be nice to have the wisdom to be able to write off one of the leading scorers in the NHL's top developmental league when he's 23. |

Why yes it is.
Just in, from Tampa....
Donnie Hockey spoke directly with Montreal Canadiens Head Coach Jacques Martin at this morning's skate, and asked him about David Desharnais. Martin said:
"He's small, eh. You know, he has good hands but he's not big enough or fast enough to play here. Look at Gionta. Watch him skate. He flies around the ice. St. Louis with Tampa here, he's the same way. If you don't have size, you gotta be able to really skate."
Donnie also said there are hundreds of Montreal fans in Tampa for tonight's game, and none that he has spoken with think they need another smurf. |

Eh, I'll take that to the bank. When I get a recording
I'm not so vulnerable to believe that Jacques Martin would share the organization's plans of players with a former radio broadcaster who never held a position in player personnel throughout his entire career and who has been out of the game for half a decade. Especially one with whom he was never professionally associated. But, perhaps I am wrong. If that's the case, then I can only imagine what Martin shares with current beer vendors and parking attendants at the Bell Centre.
But, hockey traveliar , I understand. We all must have our heroes.

Nah, I don't really have any heroes. But yours is still playing in Hamilton. |
