| It seems we traded with Utah to get Patrik Prokop for future considerations today also. Are these decisions based on need or does our parent clubs have influence on the deals? |

i don't know if the affiliates had much to do with these moves but things that happen up the ladder can force out hand. currently the cyclones have forwards mike mclean and dustin sproat on assignment in milwaulkee. mark van guilder, who has been up and down the last few weeks has sustained some sort of injury; i'm not sure how serious it is but he is expected to miss milwaukee's games this weekend which means there is a good chance that ian mckenzie will make his way back to the admirals and the odds that mclean and sproat return at any time before people are healed fairly slim. when you factor all that in with del monte and voakes being on the shelf the bench starts looking bare and bodies have to be acquired from somewhere.
all that being said i believe milwaukee added a player recently so it's hard to say exactly how much it has effected us outside of having extra healthy bodies.
the part that concerns me is the "future considerations." when you look at the unaffiliated players that we have, they all play integral roles on the team. prokop has played only 15 games split between 2 teams this season and has nothing in the stat column so it's hard to say what we're getting besides a healthy body so i hope we don't end up giving up heavily on the backside of that deal. |

Cyclones Sign Ryan Ford, Acquire Patrik Prokop
CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Cincinnati Cyclones, ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Montreal Canadiens and Nashville Predators, announced this afternoon they have signed forward Ryan Ford. The club also announced that it has acquired defenseman Patrik Prokop in a trade with the Utah Grizzlies (ECHL) in exchange for future considerations.
Ford, 23, is in his second professional season, having played both with Evansville (AAHL). This season, Ryan has appeared in eleven games with the Ice Men and has five goals and six assists for eleven points and 29 penalty minutes.
The five-foot-nine, 195 pound native of Cambridge, ON, also spent his rookie season with Evansville. Ford played in 37 games with 19 goals and 34 assists for 53 points and 83 penalty minutes. Prior to turning pro, Ryan spent three seasons in the Ontario Provincial Junior Hockey League (OPJHL). He appeared in 111 games and had 49 goals and 67 assists for 116 points and 128 penalty minutes.
The Cyclones had a second transaction, completing a trade with Utah (ECHL) that brings defenseman Patrik Prokop to the team in exchange for future considerations. Prokop, who will turn 22 on Saturday, is in his first professional season and has already played with Bakersfield and Utah. In 15 games between the teams, Patrik has no points and 18 penalty minutes.
The six-foot, 187 pound native of Ostrava, Czech Republic, played three seasons in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL). During 2007-08, Prokop was a part of the QMJHL playoff championship team with Gatineau and then was with the winners last seasonDrummondville, where he played for current Hamilton Bulldogs coach Guy Boucher. Patrik played in 50 games last season with Drummondville and had seven goals and 20 assists for 27 points and finished the season with a plus/minus rating of +39. He was even or better in plus/minus in 43 of his 50 games. His plus/minus rating was third-best in the QMJHL among defensemen.
In other Cyclones news, defenseman Kevin Roeder has been placed on the 21-day injured reserve list.
The Cyclones are on the road Friday night (Jan. 15) with a 7pm showdown at Johnstown. That game will be carried on 1530 Homer The Sports Animal with the pregame airing at 6:30pm.
