Hamilton Bulldogs goaltender Cedrick Desjardins claimed the Reebok Top Goaltender award by stopping 16 of 19 shots for the Canadian side.
Okay Donnie, on your behalf I will make sure everyone knows that
he did miss 3 shots !!

Actually, he missed seven shots as he got beat on four shots that rang off the post or crossbar.

It's great to see a former Cyclones player claim the Reebok Top Goaltender award in last night's AHL All-Star skills competition.

We all know the crossbar is the goalies best friend.

Was also the winning goaltender as he won the shootout. He stopped 8 of 10 in the 3rd and 4 of 5 in the shootout. Pretty damn impressive for an all star game

good try donnie, but if the puck hit the crossbar or post it technically wasn't a shot :-p

In a game it's not, but in a skills competition it's considered a shot the goalie faced.

If a puck hits a post, it only matters if the puck crosses the line. Until the rules change that hitting the crossbar is a goal, I consider it an assisted save for Cedy.

Those weren't shots on goal then.
Anyone who's had any experience involving hockey knows that a shot on goal is exactly that, on goal. The pipe isn't the goal. If it goes in off the pipe, it's a shot (and a goal). Hitting the pipe and going out isn't a shot on goal.

Therefore, he's missed 3 shots on goal.

I thought the definition of a shot on goal, meant the following....It is a shot on goal if it would have gone in the net had the goalie not been there to stop it. So by that definition the post shots are not shots on goal.

From the USA hockey website
Shot on GoalWhen a team directs the puck towards its opponents goal,
causing a goal to be scored or the opposing goalkeeper to make a save, the
team shall be credited with a shot on goal.

Exactly
There's the fun time, though, where the goal->shot paradox comes into play, ie a puck shot behind the net that hits off the goalie and deflects away from the goal is not a shot, but if the same play deflects off the goalie and into the net, it becomes a shot.
