| Can we get back to hockey!!!!. Didn't see the game at Johnstown but..... Now being outplayed by Toledo, Wheeling for 3 games, Charlotte and Johnstown ( last in Conference and on a seven game losing streak after the folding announcement) I am concerned. Defense, including goaltending looked OK until J-Town but the offense is struggling. We are being fore checked all over the rink but especially in the defensive zone meaning 2-3 attempts are needed to bring the puck out. Usually this means the on ice players are tired and just chipping the puck into the offensive zone and changing while one player forechecks. Result is an in ordinate amount of time in our own zone which is a complete change from a month ago. These next five games down south are real important to change this around. Any other thoughts on hockey??? |

I agree with you, dbc, about the offense struggling as of late, as well as this southern swing being important. At least the third game of three against Wheeling was a lot better than the first two, and from what I heard about the Charlotte game (I was not there for that one) it sounds like it was a rough game. I kind of wasn't surprised by the Johnstown result. But, unfortunately we can't win them all, and I don't think it's time to hit any kind of panic button just yet. As of now I'm just chalking up our recent level of play to fatigue, and if any team/coach can get out of this small rut its the Clones and Coach Weber. I think we'll be fine. The team I'm worried about is Toledo---we seem to have not quite figured them out yet and I'm getting tired of them pushing us around, especially in our yard. |

And Donnie Hockey... I don't know you, will probably never meet you, and frankly don't care one way or another. But I wanted to point out that you manage to go out of your way to put a negative spin on EVERYTHING positive about the Cyclones posted on this board.
It really is old and annoying, and frankly makes you come across like a bitter, first class asshole.
Just sharing some honest feedback. Take it or leave it.
This one hit the nail on the head... |

Agree with you Ray on Toledo. I think they are the weakest of the Division teams yet we seem to have had problems with them all year. Shows the importance of match ups.
Seems to me our current offensive slow down started when Morehouse went on the IR. He is certainly not a scorer but I think his energy is contagious on the ice--they all seem a step quicker when he is playing and our fore checking is much better keeping the puck in their zone rather than vice versa. Th clones play much better with such a high energy effort and Morehouse is a catalyst for such play. |

The olympic break seems to have potentially messed up the chemistry a bit. We'll see how it works out going forward.
And due to early season injuries and call-ups we seem to have a plethora of D men now. We'll see what happens there.
Is there a trading deadline in the ECHL? If so, when is it?

| Johnstown was a good road trip. The town SUCKS and the game wasn't much better for the Clones. It was great cheering them on in person again, and absolutely AWESOME to talk with Eggo, Sproater, and Renny after the game. Eggo musta been out there for 30 minutes. I gave him an Army PT shirt signed by me and he had another passed thru the locker room and signed by all the players for my Sergeant. Thanks to those who told me where to go in town. If anyone does go to the last game up there, GO TO SCOTT'S BY DAM!!!! The tacos are out of this world! But, go hungry!! |
