Very very rare

The Cincinnati Cyclones look to make ECHL history tonight when they host the Reading Royals in Game 7 of the American Conference Finals at 7:30 p.m. ET at U.S. Bank Arena.

No team in the 22-year history of the ECHL has come back to win a seven-game series after trailing 3-0 and it is just the second time in league history that a team has forced a seventh game after trailing by three games. The Cyclones forced a Game 7 against Atlantic City in the 2003 Northern Conference Finals where they lost 3-2.

This series marks the 29th time in league history that a seven-game series has stood 3-0 after three games. On 23 occasions, the series ended in a sweep; three times the series ended in five games; once a series was decided in six games and tonight marks the second time the series has gone to seven games.

Only five teams in professional hockey history have come back to win a seven-game series after trailing 3-0. It has happened twice in the National Hockey League: Toronto defeated Detroit in the 1942 Stanley Cup Finals and the New York Islanders defeated Pittsburgh in the 1975 Stanley Cup Quarterfinals. Two teams have come back from three-game deficits in the American Hockey League: Rochester defeated Cleveland in the 1960 Calder Cup Semifinals and Adirondack defeated Hershey in the 1989 Southern Division Finals. In the International Hockey League, Orlando defeated Detroit in the 1999 Eastern Conference Finals.

Tonight marks the 21st Game 7 in ECHL history. Cincinnati has participated in an ECHL-record five Game 7s, posting a 3-2 record, including a 2-1 win over Charlotte in the 2010 Conference Semifinals. Reading will be playing in just its second Game 7 in team history. In their only prior Game 7 appearance, the Royals lost to the Cyclones, 6-1, in the 2008 Division Final

Lets be nice to Reading since they have only appeared in one other game seven, by handing their butts to them again
