Former Hamilton coach Guy Boucher analyzes Desharnais. He states that Desharnais has the skating speed to play in the NHL. He goes on to say that DD needs to be able to show that he can "maintain his speed over the course of a game/season to make it in the NHL".
His ability to make the NHL-according to NHL coach Boucher-depends upon an adjustment, not a basic skill level.
Joe, Desharnais played six games in the NHL only because Montreal had more than 40 percent of its 23-man roster out with injuries. They needed bodies.
I noticed you neglected to mention I said he wouldn't get called back up after the Olympics. Other players in Hamilton did, but not your boy.
Let me know when Desharnais plays a regular season game in NHL when it's not because of circumstance.
As for being fifth in the AHL in playoff scoring, usually the players on teams that play more than 4-7 playoff games are in that spot. It's hard to be top-10 in playoff scoring if your team isn't playing deep into the playoffs.
BTW ... Did you notice former Cincinnati Mighty Duck Keith Aucoin was fourth in playoff scoring?

Donnie, check those Bulldogs who were called up--all defensemen and wingers as far as I can see- neither of which he can play. Like comparing apples and oranges. Will be interesting to see if he does resign with the Habs. Could be a fit with TB with Boucher where they already have shown the ability of undersized players to play.
