I can't be at the game today, but from the game sheet it looks like the kids got some chippiness in the 1st period.
Does anyone know if the instigator penalty for Olson with the 1st period fight was a retaliation? I really hope it was.

| Actually he was sticking up for someone (They came out of a big group of players). Landry got 5 minutes for receiving and spent his 5 minutes in the locker room getting stiched up. |

That is the best Cyclones news I've heard all year.
Seriously.

Olson went after Landry after Landry took some liberties against Eghoetz (I think).
Olson ripped Landry's helmet off, beat him mercilessly while Landry was down-until the officials stopped him-and then raised his arms triumphantly as he entered the penalty box.
It was delicious.
What was hysterical to me was the aftermath. A group of 7 year old girls kept chanting "fight, fight, fight" for the remainder of the game-grinning the entire time.

That is good news. It's all fun and games until someone gets their helmet ripped off and stitched up!

Loving the confidence these boys are having with Olson out on the ice with them. We had Dylan Hunter and Brian O'Hanley at the fan club general meeting on Wednesday and O'Hanley commented on how they all play a bit stronger and taller when they know Ben's out there with them. He said since being on a line with Ben, he's out there skating like he's 6'5" because Ben told him to basically go out there and do whatever he needed to do because Ben would "take care of it". LMAO
This is what I like to see. No running the goalies like they did the entire playoff run last season. No boarding our captain. No running your damn mouth at our bench as you go skating by with no repercussions. LOVING IT... |
What you do today can change the course of your life far into the future. Today is critical. Today really counts. |

Yep. That's how the game works.
If you have a guy that's effective at taking names and dealing punishment, your skill players stay healthier and get more room to skate. If things keep going like they have been, after this team (as it is currently playing) makes a couple of rounds through the division we'll start to see results.
As noted above, two weeks ago our goalies were getting crashed, our captain was getting his helmet elbowed off, and opposing players felt comfy trash talking our bench.
We're not seeing that crap now. It's in our boy's hands to make sure it stays that way.
It's what makes hockey special. I LOVE it.

Thanks for the insight.
Now if DeLory starts playing to his role and his size, the Cyclones could-dare I say-have an element of real intimidation to them.
