sec60.com's self proclaimed hockey insider's claim that "the man in charge of the roster" would only call up DD if "he had to" must have had a change of heart LESS THAN 24 hours later. Some alleged source. hahahahaha.

Here's that memorable prediction:

Spoke to the man in charge of the Montreal roster before Thursday night's game and asked them about Desharnais. They said he was "highly skilled but small" and that there were no plans to call him up "unless we have to."

As WLW's Tracy Jones would say, it is what it is.

DD is in the NHL again!!!!!!!

His recall wasn't in time for him to play tonight vs. Florida.

http://www.thespec.com/sports/article/307940--canadiens-recall-desharnais

quote:
The top point-getter in the American Hockey League has been recalled to the NHL Montreal Canadiens from the Hamilton Bulldogs.

Centre David Desharnais has 45 points (10 goals, 35 assists) in 35 games this season.

The 24-year-old native of Quebec City ranks first in the AHL in assists with 35. He also leads the Dogs in plus/minus rating with a plus-14. Signed as a free agent by the Canadiens on Nov. 5, 2008, 5-foot-7, 170-pound Desharnais played six NHL games for Montreal last season, scoring one assist.

Desharnais was named Reebok/AHL Player of the Week for the period ending Dec. 26.

In a recent interview with the Montreal Gazette, former Bulldog winger Max Pacioretty said Desharnais is the best player in the AHL.

Wouldn't it be ironic if DD saved Martin's job?

And wouldn't it be appropriate for dh to take a long hiatus from sec60 as he has ONCE AGAIN been shown that his player analysis is south of pathetic AND that he either lies about his sources or that he doesn't really have sources? lol (really loudly)

Edit for what?

Telling the truth?lol.

Only name calling isn't allowed (from what I understand).

I have merely called your analysis pathetic-which it has been. I've also called into question your sources-which certainly do deserve some questioning given the events (citing your own postings) of the past 24 hours. About the only thing I could be cited for is questioning your integrity regarding your sources. Which would be ridiculous.

There's no need to call you names. Your track record demeans you more than any insult could. You continue to insult yourself.

You pay more to see one Cyclones game than I've paid to see 12 Lightning games the past four seasons. Obviously you are right about my connections.

Which Montreal center is injured?

Cammalleri? NO

Gomez? NO

Plekanec? NO

LaPierre? NO

So, what are you doing? Lying? Or don't you know who plays center for the Habs? Maybe your buddy Jacques can fill you in. lol

I didn't speak to my "buddy" Jacques prior to yesterday's Lightning vs. Canadiens game. He's the head coach, not the one in charge. The general manager and assistant general manager make the decisions on player personnel at the NHL level, not the head coach. The head coach has input, but it's the management team (GM and Ass't GM) that decides on trades, callups, and demotions.

Once again, before you take your shots, try knowing what you're talking about. You assumed it was Jacques I spoke to yesterday, and once again your assumption was wrong!

BTW ... The Canadiens traded center Maxim Lapierre to the Anaheim Ducks for defenseman Brett Festerling and a 2012 fifth-round draft pick. Thus, the NEED for a center (Desharnais).

Try to parse words about it, discredit it, whatever you must, but two things are abundantly clear:

1) Your sources aren't legitimate sources based on the usually incorrect information you've consistently provided. You know these NHL managers at a very superficial level (if really at all) and your information received from these "sources" has never amounted to anything. Cite me examples of legitmate insider info you've posted on this board. Go back in time as far as you like and upon whatever topic you'd like. Your latest "inside" info (no DD call up-less than 24 hrs before he was called up) was real spot on.

GMs make roster decisions in the NHL? Wow. I didn't know that. Thanks for the insight. lol

2) David Desharnais has EARNED a legitimate shot at being in the NHL. The Habs traded their 4rth center (Lapierre) with the full knowlege that DD would be his replacement. That's what player development systems are for-to ready players for when the current crop fails/retires/injured. DD is the LEADING SCORER in the #1 NHL developmental league. That's why he's in the NHL and that's why he'll get a shot outside of Montreal even if he doesn't get a legit chance on this call up. Deal with it.

DD earned his shot and hopefully the embattled Jacques Martin will give DD 2nd or 3rd line responsibilities. Given how poorly Gomez, Cammalleri and Plekanec have played over the past 10 games (according to what I've read) DD ought to get a shot at centering a legit offensive line.

If Martin relegates DD to 4rth line status, then this won't be a legit shot. It'll just prove that JM doesn't want to see him have a chance to succeed.

Sorry that you're so bitter about being wrong about DD and Cedrick, but c'est la vie. You were also wrong about Weber (until you jumped on his bandwagon), but don't get discouraged. You'll be right about something at some point. The law of averages, ya know.

Keith Aucoin has been a leading scorer and AHL MVP but is still waiting for his first legitimate shot at the NHL. Like Desharnais, he is on the small side. And Aucoin is a much better all-around player.

Desharnais is in the NHL. For now. The question is will he be in two weeks, or back in Hamilton?

As for Jacques Martin, he is one of the best coaches in the National Hockey League. He's more qualified than you to decide what kind of minutes to give to the dimunitive one. If he plays him on the fourth line that will be because that is where one of the NHL's best coaches feels he belongs.

And once again, you're wrong when you state I'm bitter about Desharnais and Desjardins. Although I had no emotional involvement in either player as do you, I was excited to be there to see it in person when a player that began his career as undrafted free agent in Cincinnati made his NHL debut last night in Tampa Bay's 4-1 win over Montreal. And, I think that makes you the bitter one, as it was I and not you that was there to witness it.

I hope Desharnais has success in the NHL. I've never rooted against him. I just stated what the hockey world thought as well when he went undrafted and unsigned coming out of the QMJHL, that he was too small to play in the National Hockey League. Are you writing to all the general managers, assistant general managers, and scouts that passed on him, that thought he couldn't play, too? I was not alone in my assessment, Joseph! Far from it.

I'm used to Donnie bashing any modern Cyclones player. Pretty much we should all get used to it and continue ignoring his posts, then maybe he'll stop visiting Section 60.

"People" say he is just opinionated but there is a difference between being opinionated and bashing.

Back to ignore mode
