Wow. I knew that the numbers were bad, but not this bad. The Cyclones are lucky to have won the 2 of those games which they have.
There's nothing a coach can do about a team which can't score. The Cyclones are now the second lowest scoring team (a meager 2.79 goals per game) in the entire ECHL despite their heavy veteran forward presence. If Skalde doesn't open it up then the Cyclones don't get desperately needed offensive opportunities and when he allows them to open it up, the Cyclones get burned defensively. He's damned if he does (opens it up) and damned if he doesn't. I recommend that he and Fankhouser drink. Heavily.
A team which can't score and has lousy goaltending is up s*** creek without a paddle. At the very least, Pickard needs to become an expert at door opening. He's almost a guaranteed "L". If Cheverie can't carry the load, then this season is hopeless. Pickard needs to become the goalie for the third game in three days. Nothing beyond that for him. The bottom has fallen out for the poor kid. I feel bad for him, but he's been given ample opportunity to play his way out of his funk and he hasn't been able to do so.
Skalde probably doesn't have the authority to make this obvious move. The previous coach (name escapes me ) wouldn't have had the authority either given that the player in question is a recent first round pick. Ah, the joys of affiliation
Having posted this, the Cyclones will sweep this weekend's three games with huge offensive explosions and Pickard will pitch two shutouts.

At this point we still have season tickets left to burn, and I don't really care if they take the Charlestown Chiefs approach and just start fighting and bashing heads.
I'm being serious. If I'm going to keep watching them lose, I want to at least see something entertaining. Thats the current sad but true state of the union from my seat.
