The ice was terrible. There were large puddles everywhere. Numerous times players fell in the puddles or the puck just came to a stop. It was an embarassment to the city and arena.

I doubt it would happen for a long time, given the train wreck that happened last time...

Sorry--not living here then. What was the train wreck?

1996 Frozen Four...well, let's see...

* biggest issue was the ice - one of the refrigeration lines was punctured/cut (while drilling hole for goal pegs IIRC) resulting in the ice not being able to freeze in/around that area.

* was pre-arena rennovation, so bathrooms & concessions and overall arena was not the most appealing. I encounterd water dripping from overhead pipes on me in two bathrooms myself.

* pre Newport/NKy ehancements = not much to do around the arena.

Overall just a bad fan experience and long time frozen four fans shudder at the mere mention of the Cincy FF

I have lived in the shadow of the Gardens all my life and I can say that the city is not a Hockey Town, it is too big of a city to be a minor league Hockey Town like Reading PA for example small city and what else to do on a weekend but go to a Reading Royals game. In Cincinnati you have the College Basketball, malls, high school events. The original ECHL Clones, IHL Clones, and AHL Ducks did not prove to anybody that this is a Hockey Town, it proved that free parking can grab anybody to come to a hockey game or any event for that the Gardens have to this very day, it is a great promotion. I am glad the team is doing well in the attendance stats and like everybody else if promotions is what it takes to keep people coming by all means keep getting creative then.

As long as the college hotties keep showing up at games, I'm content.
