If it's about the affiliation and getting them time, then say so. Don't say it's about preparation and don't take away the little extra motivation that fear of having to sit a couple games because one didn't perform and the other did. Yes, Chuck rotated them for the most part, but if a guy got a shutout or stood on his head one game he got the next one - that's understood by all goalies.

And yes hrc, I didn't like the pick of skalde back then and I've seen little to change my mind since. And unlike you, I did form my opinion based on alot more than hearsay...

Actually Chuck tried the shutout/stand on his head strategy and quickly moved away from it (06-08 and for the most part last season)because he found that the guys would get worked over in that next game. Last season, he did some matching up (Mayer had Kzoo's number in Kzoo for the most part so he got the majority of those starts) but still stuck to the rotation shut out or not.

Just got home and pulled up the game sheet.

Giving up 3 goals in 2 minutes is not exactly awesome, especially against a decimated roster like Wheeling has tonight.

Maybe we'll get lucky and not only make the playoffs but get S.C. and Florida in the early rounds.

Well, as the topic suggests, no room for error and there is certainly alot of error. If K Zoo wins tonight, and it appears they will, the Clones will drop to third in the division. We may be lucky to reach the playoffs.

In the words of Jim Mora, "Whats that? Ah Playoffs? Dont talk about playoffs? You kidding me? Playoffs? I just hope we can win a game! Another game."

As of today, the Clones sit 10 points behind Wheeling, who have lost their last three in a row and 4 points behind K-Zoo who have won their last four in a row. The Clones are 2 points ahead of Toledo, who have two games in hand on us.

The division is heating up right now. K-Zoo is on a tear and Wheeling free falling.

I kind of feel like these next few games will make or break them.

On the question of which is hurting us more--offense or defense, Clones are currently 16th of 19 teams averaging 2.88 goals per game with only SC at 2.84 lower in the conference. The top seven scoring teams in the league are from our conference. In defense we are 13th of 19 teams allowing 3.29 goals a game and five of the six teams with a worse defense are from our conference: Gwinnett, K-zoo, Trenton, Elmira, and Toledo. While the D is nothing to brag about, we still have a better defensive record and a worse offensive record than all of the other teams we are fighting for a playoff spot.

Stats are great but it is all about matchups.
Look at Florida's record and offensive numbers vs. their record and offensive numbers against the lowly clones.

And of course, in this league the callups on top of injuries can be a death sentence and standings flipper. Look at what is happening to Wheeling right now and also note that Greenville seems to struggle without Dov.

It can be fun to look at stats and stuff, but really all you can really say is if our boys keep playing against our division like they did for the first half we likely won't make the playoffs. If they play better, we likely will.
Which will happen?
I have no idea.
