CYCLONES WRAP UP SERIES WITH STINGRAYS BEFORE SQUARING OFF AGAINST FIRST-PLACE WHEELING THIS WEEKEND
Cincinnati looks for three-game sweep of South Carolina on Wednesday
THIS PAST WEEK:
About Sunday vs. South Carolina: The Cyclones buried three goals in the third period while goalie Chet Pickard made 28 saves to earn his second career shutout, beating the Stingrays by a 5-0 score in front of 2,644 at U.S. Bank Arena. Cyclones captain Barret Ehgoetz potted a goal and added a pair of assists while defenseman T.J. Fast posted three "helpers" in Cincinnati's fourth shutout victory of the season.
About Friday vs. South Carolina: The Cyclones exploded for a three-goal third period en route to a 4-2 victory over the Stingrays in front of 5,886 at U.S. Bank Arena. Benn Olson and Adam Comrie each netted their first professional goals while Mathieu Aubin added a pair of assists. The win snapped South Carolina's three-game winning streak.
STORYLINES:
Shooting Blanks: On Sunday, Chet Pickard earned his second professional shutout, turning aside 28 shots. It also keeps the Cyclones streak alive of having at least two goalies earn at least one "blanking" during the regular season. This feat has now been accomplished in four consecutive years.
O-H...: Cyclones All-Star defenseman Brian O'Hanley continues to post league-leading numbers this season. With a two-assist game on Sunday vs. South Carolina, he now is tied for the team lead with six multi-point games. He is also tied for third among ECHL defensemen with 24 points and 18 assists.
Stifling the Shots: The Cyclones have done an exceptional job limiting their opponents offensive chances. This season, they're allowing an average of 29.9 shots per games - the sixth fewest in the entire ECHL.
