| And with that, the Nailers now have five healthy forwards with a game coming up tomorrow night, and a head coach tending to his sick mother. Should be interesting. The Nailers potential for a great season has gone down the toilet in about three days' time. |

The last time you said that they swept us off the floor. Wheeling has a great team this year. |

When Ben Street and Nick Petersen were called up to the Baby Pens over a week ago, CPZ's wife had some unflattering words for the Pens organization on Twitter. Since then, he's been passed up on three further call-ups, including David Marshall who is not under contract to the Pens. Apparently, someone has some pretty thin skin to take something said by a player's wife in frustration, and use it to bury the player.
Casey's done a 180 from last season and early this year. He's stepped up his game defensively, has been winning faceoffs and is starting to look like the playmaker we all thought we had when he was first sent to Wheeling. |

Had a great team. They worked very hard to win those games last weekend and I was impressed. Hpowever, Doug Rogers isn't going to put up a lot of seven-point weekends. The team has a lot of heart for sure, but talent is lacking right now.
With Street and Petersen likely not coming back, and now no CPZ, this is a very depleted lineup. And it's only a matter of time before some AHL team rightfully comes calling for Mikael Bedard. |

| According to the Nailers beat writer, Shawn Rine, the Nailers receive Minella and D'Agostino from the Cyclones. He doesn't assume Minella will report. |

Well... Here's hoping the CPZ trade is a catalyst for good things, because on the surface it's an ugly deal. I sure hate to see Minella and D'Agostino go.

| Oh wow, I really hate to see Minella go. Good luck to Casey, he was one of those guys I hated seeing play against the Clones, he always seemed to play really well when they were in town. |

| The Cyclones win this deal by a mile. I don't see the downside for Cincinnati. CPZ's over a PPG since the beginning of December, and is a +17 for the year. He has more points on his own than the two guys you're losing combined. If CPZ comes there with a good attitude and plays to his ability, I don't see how anyone wouldn't be thrilled with the trade. |

Were his points a result of those around him or were they created on his own? He is less than point per game player on his career and last season was -13 despite his 41 points. If he can truly create offense, how will he fit in a team of grinders. Even if he averages a point per game the rest of the way it's still a bad move the Cyclones still lose if he can't play consistent defensively, something his career numbers indicate is a question.
For many, this season is a wash for many Cyclones fans. Yes, we're holding onto hope that the Boys can go on a run and sneak into the playoffs, but with the full turnover to the coaching staff this year was set to be a rebuilding year. That being said, the Cyclones gave up 2 young players which could be a building block for next season in order to get a player whose rights belong to Nashville/Milwaukee and therefore can't be protected or qualified for next season since he's under NHL/AHL contract. Short term it might be an OK move but I don't see it. And long term it's questionable at best.

| Wow, Minella and D'Agostino!! Both gritty players. What in the world is Skalde thinking? As the season goes on he is making some strange trades and signings. |

| He's been much more responsible defensively this season. He had to step up that part of his game even more when playing alongside Nick Petersen, who is a liability defensively. Less than a PPG for his career, yes. But Minella and D'Agostino aren't even close to being half a PPG and are minuses on the season. |

I personally hate the trade. Has nothing to do with Zabotel and everything to do with losing Minella. In my opinion he has been one of the few bright spots on an extremely inconsistent and drab team.
Minella works hard, hits hard, takes shots, fights, and at least from what I've seen never takes a shift off. IMO this team just can't afford to lose an energy guy like that.
I think we're going to find out that Zabotel is a decent player but his great numbers have largely been a result of linemate skill he now won't have. Good god I hope I'm wrong and he provides an offensive spark, but I think we just sent our spark to Wheeling.
Hopefully Zabotel will be royally pissed at the Pens organization and play like his ass is on fire to show them what they just lost. Hope. Hope. Hope.
