Trenton is the last place team in the conference. We played them twice all year--both there- and that is it. Twice all year.
The teams we are fighting with for playoff spots, (Trenton, Wheeling, Gwinett, and Elmira) are a bit advantaged. Elmira has played them 11 times already with five left to play. Wheeling has also played them 11 times and is done for the year. Toledo has played them four times and has three left. Even Gwinett has played them three times and has three left.
I know the ECHL will never have a balanced schedule but this is absurd. Last place team and we have two games against them with four possible points. The other teams fighting for playoff spots have a combined 40 games against them ( more than half Trenton's schedule) with 80 possible points. I still think the Cyclones will get in but I hope in future years there is a better balance.
Will be interesting to see what happens next year if Chicago comes in as scheduled. My guess is Wheeling will shift east giving the conference three four team divisions. Hopefully it will lead to a more balanced schedule.
Dont get ahead too fast. You make it sound like if we played them more those would be easy guarnteed wins! They wouldnt be. As streaky as our team has been nothing is an easy win this year.
Agreed. When the schedule is made out, no one knows who will be where at this point in the season. There are so many variables that are into play why this team is where it is it isn't funny...beginning with when Chuck left. Just a couple wins against Wheeling would put this team in a whole different light. But it is what it is, and we are where we are.
...And on the eighth day, GOD created the Cyclones!
Not saying that we got hosed on purpose but that the imbalance is soooo large the league should try and make it closer as it can have effects--positive and negative--on who makes the playoffs. If Trenton was in first place and we only played them twice we would be happy. Fact is we have played the last place team twice with no more games scheduled and Elmira--which is a point behind us in the standings--has played them 11 times and has five more games with them remaining. 2 games to 16 games. Four possible points against 32. I am not bitching--it is what it is. Only saying the league should be able to schedule more than two games against Trenton as after all they made several trips to Wheeling, Toledo, and K-Zoo and the league coudn't fit in 1-2 games in Cinn? We will play three games in SC and three in Greenville on one trip and went all the way to FLA for just three games on the entire trip. I agree you never know in September who will be a first place team or a last place team but LARGE discrepancies in the schedule shouldn't be a key factor in determining who makes the playoffs.
