TOLEDO, Ohio - Rookie forward Cory Conacher had four points in his ECHL debut as he leads the Cincinnati Cyclones (32-28-6-4) to crucial 4-3 win over the Toledo Walleye (32-31-4-2) at the Huntington Center on Sunday afternoon. With the victory, Cincinnati extended its cushion in the Eastern Conference standings to four points over Toledo.

Only a few hours after getting assigned to Cincinnati by the Rochester Americans, rookie Cory Conacher scored his first ECHL goal as his wrist shot eluded Toledo netminder Thomas McCollum (L, 26 saves, 11-9-1-1) for a 1-0 Cyclones lead. However, Andy Bombach answered back with his 25th tally of the season at the 17:51 mark to knot the score at the end of 20 minutes.

The second period, for the most part, was controlled by Cincinnati. During a Cyclones power play, Conacher spun a beautiful pass through the slot to Barret Ehgoetz who easily directed in the go-ahead goal at 3:56. Then, after having to kill off three Toledo man-advantages, the Cyclones returned to full strength and Ehgoetz answered again; the Cincinnati captain took a wrist shot from right point and it fluttered past McCollum for a 3-1 cushion after two periods. That goal for Ehgoetz was also his 100th as a member of the Cyclones – good for second-most in franchise history.

The Walleye came back to make it a game of things in the third period as Scooter Smith and Evan Rankin each scored at 7:53 and 15:23 respectively to tie the score in the final five minutes. Luckily though, Conacher struck again when he stole a puck away from David Phillips right in front of the Toledo net and roofed it over McCollum for his fourth point of the night and the eventual game-winning goal. As the Walleye frantically attempted to tie it in the final minutes, a loose puck went underneath Cincinnati goalie Brian Foster (W, 33 saves, 10-6-0-1) and was apparently poked into the net; however, referee Curtis Marouelli ruled that the whistle had blown, so the goal did not count and Cincinnati remained ahead by a goal. The Cyclones would hold on to win by the 4-3 score.

The Cyclones Radio Network Three Stars of the Game are as follows:
1. Cory Conacher (2 goals, 2 assists, game winning goal for Cincinnati)
2. Barret Ehgoetz (2 goals for Cincinnati)
3. Evan Rankin (1 goal, 1 assist for Toledo)

The Cyclones will wrap up their 2010-11 road schedule with another 10:30am meeting with the Kalamazoo Wings this Wednesday morning at Wings stadium. Fans can hear all the action on the Cyclones Radio Network starting at 10:15am.

The defending Kelly Cup Champions will return to U.S. Bank Arena next Friday, April 1 for City Barbeque Fan Appreciation Night. The final game of the regular season will feature $1 John Morrell Hotdogs, $1 Donatos Pizza, $1 Soda, and $.50 Popcorn. 2011-12 season tickets are on sale NOW! Can we just play everything on the road for the rest of the year?
I'm not kidding.
