The Cyclones won 11 fewer games than last season and may not repeat as Kelly Cup champions, but the 2010-11 season was the most successful for the ECHL franchise in its eight seasons in Cincinnati.

The Cyclones averaged a franchise-best 4,143 fans per game this season, an increase of 256 per game over the 2009-10 season and up 2,299 from what the team averaged five years ago.

Most of the people that attend Cyclones games are not there for the hockey. They couldn't name five players on the two rosters combined if surveyed when they came through the turnstiles. At the minor pro level, it's not wins that brings people to the arena but rather the marketing and promotion. The Cyclones had another winning season in that department.

If we asked you how many players you could name, what would your answer
be ? Oh that's right, you don't attend the games, just bash the people
who do. As for our most successful, I think most would feel the 2007-08
season was our best. When you are the FIRST to win the Brabham Cup and
also win the title, this shows you never slipped start to finish. We
barely made it out the first round last year and most would say our
title was a "fluke" because of this.Without Weber, no way we win last
year so it was a great achievement, but if attendance is your main point,
then our early Garden's days would be our most "successful.

Actually D.H. answered a question I had after last nights game...How the attendance was this year overall. I would never have guessed a 9,000+ improvement over last year. The crowds overall didn't seem to look as big.

I would certainly agree their marketing did a good job. Lord knows the coaching and what they put on the ice wasn't the draw.

...And on the eighth day, GOD created the Cyclones!

You don't have to attend the games to know who's on the team and in the league, nor do you have to attend the games to be a fan of the team and sport.

The franchise from your early Gardens days never played at USBA as the Cincinnati Cyclones. That franchise and all those attendance records are long gone from the Cincinnati hockey scene. The history with the Cyclones you support today in Cincinnati began in 2001-02. Outside of the name, there is no association whatsoever between the Cyclones of today and the franchise that played to standing room only crowds at the Gardens in 1990-91 and 1991-92.

Find one post where I have bashed someone attending the games. Posting something you or someone else disagrees with is not bashing. Well, maybe in Cyclonesland it is, but again, find one post where I bashed someone for attending the games.

Read your own quote of me "bash the people who do". How do you get
out of that quote bashing people FOR attending ? A successful season
for Mike Brown is a full stadium and who cares about the team play.
I will agree the management did their job on promotions, but not on
the quality of hockey play. I'm sure Toledo is not happy with their
team not making the playoffs but most here can't think our team is
superior to them just because we did.

While it was a great accomplishment when they won the Brabham & Kelly Cups in 07-'08, the Cyclones were actually the third team to do it. South Carolina (1997) was the first to do it and Alaska (2006) was the second.

Are you sure Scott, maybe I'm wrong but I'm 99% positive they said we
were the first to win the title the same year winning the Brabham Cup.
Can anyone else verify if I was mistaken .

God has spoken so it must be right. Our fabulous press reported we were
the first to do it and unlike some people, if I'm told water is blue I
don't normally go to the library and research the fact for a month before
I agree. Thanks Scott for correcting me.
Found this after posting so you were right :

The press reported the Cyclones were the first to do it based on the inaccurate information they were provided by the Cyclones. When a news media outlet receives a press release from an organization, if what they report is wrong, it's not the news media outlet that loses credibility.
