I agree "Banner" with the jerks with their hats and not standing,
but I also have more problems with jerks like Bill Cunningham and
some singers who give their own"touch" to the song. The "Mystics"
(sorry if I misspelled their name) still do the best of our singers.
Long live "HOWIE"

I agree, the Mystics are great. Hope they do some games again this year.

Here is the issue:

It was military apprechiation night. Which means when you see them in unifrom respect them. Because their the ones fighting for our country over seas to give us the freedom to have hockey games. Then the guard was bringing out the colors and other things were being yelled and of course the icing on the cake during the National Athem the Howie yell.

This is the frist time I have heard this in the past 3 yrs I have been going there. I have heard it in Cincy before, thats fine its your tradition your arena so do with it you want.

But this time it was our house and in front of people serving our country. In conclusion when the lights came on in the arena it was very obvisoius what "team" was yelling and of course all the fans were decked out in Cyclone jerseys so the people knew who it was.

Dayton's forward roster looks absolutely pathetic. I doubt that they'll score 2.5 goals per game. They are seriously looking at a sub 55 point season. They have no Tifu or Beaudoin. They will be extremely offensively-challenged. It appears that their coach is trying to mold a physical and defensive team. Even if they are effective in this manner, it still won't be enough to overcome their obvious offensive poverty."

You guys should know by now, or at least Jericho does, that Joe (hrc) has a big mouth and likes to make those types of predictions, and he's entitled to it, just like you are to come on here and say anything, which is something I'm really glad Jim allows. However, for you to call BS on it just because of 1 out of 72 games is almost just as immature as you probably thought he was being.

And speaking of predictions, they're just that. No one is ever completely accurate, that's why they're on a message board, as an opinion. The same goes for Dayton. All I seem to be remember reading all year long on Into The Boards, the old Fan Penalty Box (again, thanks Jim for giving everyone a fair voice, kind of refreshing!), was how the 55-12 record and all the records broken didn't matter because the Cyclones were going to choke in the playoffs like the year before. Then after Johnstown swept Dayton, it was that would choke against the Johnstown. And Reading. And South Carolina. And Las Vegas. Like I said, sometimes predictions are very wrong.

We weren't the better team Saturday, as I've said. We were severely outshot, defense looked horrible, and took a lot of stupid penalties. But in the end it was only a 1-goal game and we gained half the points Dayton did. We won the opening game in Dayton last year and I don't remember any of our fans going to the Dayton board to make a thread about it (take that back, if they did it was probably deleted). I have no problems with Dayton fans doing so over here. But let's see what the rest of the reason has in store. We had 2 losses in our first 4 games last year, but then went on to only lose a total of 10 more games the rest of the season.

Having once worked at WPAFB (for nearly 22 years) I can respectfully say that I know that the service men and women would say that they would defend a persons' right to yell during the singing of the Anthem. However, I also know that 90% of them would say "I wish they would not!" They know what the Pledge of Aligence and the National Anthem stands for and what it truely means! THINK ABOUT IT!!

That's the point I was trying to make. It's a respect issue. Respect for this country, respect for the people who protect it and respect for what it stands for.

One of my best friends proudly serves in the Navy - and is an avid hockey fan - and any time he is home on leave, and able to come to a hockey game - he's one of the loudest ones yelling Howie. And when I talked to him a couple days ago, he was offended that people were getting upset about it. Like someone mentioned earlier, his opinion is, this is America - one of the reasons he is in the Navy is so that he & everyone else has the freedom to do as they please.

You can never make every single person in this world happy - that's a fact of life. Some may be offended by it, AND CLEARLY SOME AREN'T. Military or not. You deal with it. That's life.
