From the newsdesk:
ROSTER CHANGES: Cyclones forward Billy Irish-Baker announced his retirement this morning. Irish-Baker played in 68 games over three seasons with Cincinnati and collected nine goals and seven assists for 16 points and 47 penalty minutes. Cyclones goaltender Loic Lacasse has been placed on the injured reserve list. Former Cyclone defenseman Conrad Martin has re-signed with the team and will skate with the club Tuesday.
BIB...too bad. An exciting player and fan favorite. Willing to do whatever it took to win.
Lacasse...expected, lets hope we sign someone short term (Rudy, where are you?)
Conrad Martin...Welcome back! A more than ample replacement for TJ McElroy.

I hope Irish-Baker's retirement was his choice and not a result of reduced playing time causing it. BIB always seemed to give every ounce of energy he had when other more talented players went through the motion of playing. Last year's switch to defense really helped out and the injuries from Wheeling really spoiled the playoffs for him.Thank you Billy Irish-Baker and some of the other players need to take lessons from your effort you always gave us. |

I believe the reason Billy retired was due to health issues.
I'm also glad to see Conrad back! |

Well Said. He was a pleasure to watch. Not loaded with talent, but loaded to the gils with heart. Best wishes to BIB in his future endeavors. With his work effort, I'm sure he'll be a success in anything he sets his mind to achieving. |

A big good luck goes out to Billy. He was always fun to watch and a wonderful young man to talk to. My boys enjoyed their time spent with him, he was wonderful with the kids. He was the kind of player that did whatever the team asked of him. I wish him nothing but great things in his life.

Lexi was wearing his jersey opening night and when we were walking up on the concourse his brother came up to her and asked to get a picture of the jersey. He did mention this year might be his last because I think he said his wife might be pregnant?
Obviously, not sure if it was really his brother but I figured I'd add that to this thread. |

DOV wasn't exactly the best in the 'pressure situations' if I remember correctly. I'd be glad to have him back but there is no doubt in my mind that he would be a welcomed addition at this time.
"JUICE" is just going to get an extended stay between the pipes I would think before they are able to bring someone in for a 'short term stay'. Unless there is someone living in the area or we get a little help from the PARENTS;). Obviously we have to have someone else but I think this means some more "JUICE" time. Which would be good for him- maybe boost the confidence a little. I always thought it was hard to play with someone else 'over your shoulder' this could be the boost he needs! |

You are correct. I've heard quite a lot of excitement of the possibility of Dov coming back this year (I'm unaware of his current situation so not here to argue the possibility of it), but if this team is giving up 40+ shots a night, I certainly don't want Dov as my goaltender. Now, the last several games have been no indication of that, and I hope it was just something that happened at the beginning of the year while the team was just starting to gel. I like Dov, and have no doubt he can be a solid goaltender at the ECHL level, but he's very inconsistent. His great record from last year was pretty misleading because of the team in front of him. I remember at one point he had a record of something like 10-1 and I counted that in over half he gave up something like 4 or 5 goals, but our team could easily bail him out, keep in mind this was when our defense wasn't letting in a plethora of SOGs either. |
