ChrazyG asked in another thread so rather hijack it I will start another.
Well just like anything in life you have a bad experience and it ruins it. Kind of like one bad apple ruins the bunch. It started 2 yrs ago. My wife and I were at a game in Cincy and it was a very close game that we ended up losing in a shootout. Now I know I was in your barn and kept my cheering to a respectful low roar. Well this drunk ass hippie sitting to our right started it. After Cincy scored to win in the shootout he started screaming in my wife's face F Dayton, Dayton this, Dayton That, Get the F out, etc. I had to hold back my wife from killing this hippie. Yes he was a hippie. So he kind of ruin the experience. So then you add in a rivalry I just grew to hate you. Then to have Cincy fans come up to the Kelly Cup Finals 2 yrs ago and cheer against us. That was just low.
Now the Jackals are a whole story. After last year seeing them play and saw how they play dirty hockey. They litterlly head hunt and would be very dangerous and try pushing other teams around. Starting all those line brawls last year, just to prove they can fight. I watching people on the Bummers litterlly get jumped. (ie Corey LeClair) I will post the vid when I get home. If the Cincy fans remember LeClair he never fights. So blah blah blah. I have grown to hate the Jackals even more now. I also feel that instgator rule is around because of them.
As for Cincy the hate is only there due to the rivarly. I try and put the past behind me.

| Holding an entire fan base over the actions of 1 (or even 10) fans you've had a bad experience with is something I'll never, ever understand and yet I still hear it from fans of all teams, every day. When people will start to realize that you take the good with the bad with EVERY team that exists is beyond me. |

It's okay- I hate the Bummers because of someone that used to play for them...
Mike Vellinga
He only played for them for 2 years- and one game really made me hate him. After play was stopped and he was called for a penalty, he SHOT a puck into the stands and it hit a woman in the face. Vellinga LAUGHED at the woman, actually pointed at her and laughed.
There had always been a dislike for the Bummers due to the 'Dayton/Cincy Rivalry' but that guy did it for me. When that happened, followed by NO DISCIPLINE by the Bummers or the league, it made me actually hate the Bummers...and hope that someone laid him out every time he touched the ice.
As for the CRAP that people talk at games- there were some Dayton fans that sat down in our section during the playoffs last year- and there is just a little friendly rivalry there. I always make sure to get in a 'clean shot' whenever I can but it's all in good fun. It is a game after all. |

Well, IH8, I can understand where your coming from. I hate drunken idiot fans whether they're in our house or someone else's. Lord knows we have our share of morons, as I'm sure every venue does (maybe Dayton even has one or two), but we have our share of awesome fans who just love some hockey. Rivalries can be fun, but not to the point where you can't stand everyone associated with it.
If you make it down to the game tomorrow night, please stop over (126, N 16). Who knows, I might even buy you a cold one since it's dollar beer night! |

| It seems like every time we have gone to Dayton... someone throws beer at us after the game... whether we win or Dayton wins... doesnt matter, I have had my fair share of beer baths by your fans. |

I went to my first game at Dayton this year with a open mind. But we had people yelling at us the entire time after leaving the game to heading towards the car.
I've never heard any Cyclones fans yelling at others like that to other teams after our home games. But then again, I just might not have been at the right place. |

| I'm sure every place has their own idiot....Try going to a Bengals game with a Browns or Steelers jersey......I know someone who wore here Browns jersey and was pelted with plastic beer bottles after the game. Unfortunately some of those fans make it to our game and think they can do the same stuff to other fans at Cyclone games. |

I went to the Dayton game on opening night this year with my family and didn't have any problems at all with anyone. Like I said before, you have idiots everywhere you go. You can't judge everyone because of the actions of a few. Unfortunately it goes with the territory.
And while I don't condone it, parents, don't let your kids wear MICHIGAN! It's not fair to get them off to a slow start in life. I know, that's not a hockey statement but it is worth warning people about. Kind of like not letting your kids play in traffic! |

I've heard of Bengals fans actually beating up other team's fans in the bathroom. My uncle took his grandchild into the bathroom and there was blood everywhere... now that is just crazy. |

| Ya, I can't blame the idiots on entire team. I have moved on from it and have attended every game so far at Cincy (except weekdays). Still a little harassment, but I know that their just one time hockey fans. |

| Never had a problem in any other barn. I always wear my Cyclones jerseys too. I don't say anything to other fans they don't talk to me. |
