| The various teams folding hurts all of the ECHL. If another one or two fold the ENTIRE LEAGUE may fold. You are only as strong as your weakest link. |

| That would really suck to have your team that is in 1st place to fold. |

I say this with a very heavy heart- PLEASE LOCK ANY THREADS THAT ARE RELATED TO A DEAD POLL... and I have a feeling this will get me a ban but, here is why-
So many minor league teams are in a tough spot- and I believe that the Cyclones would be one of them if it weren't for the LONG and successful playoff run last season.
Look at average attendance of teams that have folded this season:
Fresno- 3,284 Augusta- 2,722
I'm sure that all of you are well aware that we are 2nd to last in attendance this season.... RIGHT? 2,348
Falcons ticket prices ranged from 12-28 bucks... and Augusta ranged from 12-19 I believe (I could be wrong- but I think that was what it was when I checked last time)
With the Clones only charging $10 and only averaging 2,348 that's only *yes I know some people pay for front row seats* $23,480 a game. Lucky for us as fans, the Arena OWNS the team... USBA used to charge $10,000 in order to hold an event at the arena- I don't know what that is now. If this team were not owned by the arena- I'm afraid we would have been without hockey in Cincinnati again.
Johnstown is BELOW 2,000 in attendance...and we are only right above them- If attendance doesn't pick up soon our beloved Cyclones could be right there with the Falcons and the Lynx.
I ask that NO DEAD POOL be taken just because of BAD KARMA- and because I don't think that we should speculate on which team is going to 'fold' next. I just think it's disrespectful to their fans and I know we wouldn't want other teams' fans disrespecting our franchise. |

| The one thing that we need to do in order to keep our team secure is promote. We need to start up the street team again and we need to hit up any form of media we can. I'd be willing to help lead with the time I have and willing to follow if anyone has ideas. |

Johnstown pays the lowest rent in all of professional hockey, less than $2,000 a game. Because of their lease, they're in better shape than some teams that draw about 3,000 more fans a game. Their travel bill is also less than other teams. They're losing money in Johnstown, but not as much as some other teams.

My choice was Johnstown. But, they just announced an arena management deal which probably secures the future of the Chiefs for awhile.
One comment on hockeygod's post-good post, btw. Announced attendance doesn't really mean anything. I was at a game in Fresno last season and they announced 2700 and it looked a lot more like 1500. Dayton's numbers are out of line with reality as well. The Ducks mid week crowds often looked like the Clones (sub 1000), but announced numbers were much higher. And I don't think no-shows have much to do with it. Most teams 'juice' attendance figures for a variety of reasons. IMO, the biggest reason they do it is to lure potential sponsors by creating a false picture of the team's popularity.
The fact that Johnstown, Elmira, Idaho and Alaska all play in buildings which seat in the 4000 range suggests to me that a REAL attendance number of about 3500 makes a team viable in many markets. The Clones obviously need more than this given their low ticket prices, but the team is moving in the right direction. Attendance was up 36% last season and is up the same amount this season. Another factor to consider is discounting. While many teams have stated prices much higher than the Clones, the actual amount that they charge is far different. I bought 10 vouchers for $100 for Bummer's games this season. $3 of that goes to the Nutter Center for parking. So, the Bummers are actually only receiving $7 for my "retail valued" $15 seat. I can't tell you how many times I went to a Duck's game and scalped a seat for $3-5 which had $0.00 listed as it's price on it-a comped ticket for which the Ducks got nothing. It is very rare that I see someone scalping outside a Cyclones game with any tickets let alone a handful of "comped" tickets.
Should the Clones continue to show a sustained increase like they have, I wouldn't think that we'd be in danger of losing them. I don't know that for a fact-I'm not an insider. However, unless Nederlander (the team's owners) were running into money problems in their overall operations or they decided to sell USBA, it would make little sense to pull the plug on a franchise which appears to be heading in the right direction at the gate. |

The Ducks never had a turnstile count of under 1,200 for a regular season game. Never. They only had an average of four midweek games a season and usually were over 2,000 on those nights. Think what you want, hrc666, but you didn't have access to the actual turnstile counts and other legal documentation that had to be filed with Hamilton County and the city for tax purposes.
As for those tickets that had a $0.00 value listed on them, many of those were tickets that went to sponsors as part of their deals. The tickets were paid for as part of an overall package that included other things such as signage, radio spots, etc. |
