| The Cyclones goal is to sell tickets. If they have the resources make the bobblehead a popular figure to mass market of people. Numerous people like Obama, and many others just wanted his bobblehead. The much kicked around marketing department of the Cyclones hit this promotion on the head. I doubt they thought they would get 8k, but next time order 5k in preperation for a bigger crowd! Great game, and great time like always at USBA! |

I definitely think the Obama bobblehead was smart, though I get the consensus that hockey fans want hockey bobbleheads. To us, the treat, well at least for me, was getting the Gilbert Dionne bobblehead two seasons ago, a true Cyclones legend and fan favorite. Doing a bobblehead of Obama appeals to everyone, whether a supporter, hater, or if you were just apathetic, he is the president so there's automatically going to be a ton of interest. I am personally not a fan (voter of Nader this year), but I credit the marketing for putting together something that drew in one of the biggest crowds, well, ever.
I agree with Buckeye that another Twister bobblehead is dumb. Go ahead and flame me. It's not that I don't like it, but I don't want another bobblehead of the same thing. I do agree that the bobbing legs is kind of cool, I would just rather have something different. It was up to me it would be Weber in a heartbeat, but oh well. Also not to beat a dead horse, but I would love to get more old players too, even though I understand why they wouldn't want to go that route. I would personally be first in line to get a Geoff Sarjeant bobblehead, plus I just think a goalie bobble would be badass. Alas, I am thankful they are giving away three bobbleheads this year. |

How bout a Pokey Reddick (spelling). I'd buy several of those in a heartbeat. I remember him from back when my mom took me to my first game in the 93 or 94 season.
Let me edit what Im saying, as cyclonehole just said, I just simply dont want another Twister BH. I saw on the jumbotron after the game Sat. what the new Twister BH will look like and its different and cool. I just think they could have given props to someone else.
Either way...Our boys are 5 points away from re-taking what is rightfully ours. Lets get 1st place back and take this league by storm again. |

I was disappointed with the lack of interest shown by fans to the Don Biggs bobblehead several years ago when Biggsie came back to play with the ECHL version of the Cyclones. I was also disappointed with the same lack of interest Reds fans apparently had of the Joe Nuxhall bobblehead...they actually had to schedule a 2nd Joe Nuxhall bobblehead night because they had so many left over from the first. Strange how unpredictable Cincinnati fans can be.
That could be one reason why the Cyclones marketing department couldn't foresee the high interest in the Obama doll...only about 3000 came out for the Desharnais doll, and even though it's the time of year when attendance historically picks up, there was no indication that a simple bobblehead would draw that many fans. Even when the Ducks had bobblehead nights, the biggest draw they got was for Tony Stewart, and that's because he was actually there signing autographs. Crowds for JS Giguere and Ilya Bryzgalov bobbleheads were less than inspiring. I collect them, and I actually went back out to the box office to buy some $3 tix (with my college ID) to go back in and get a few more Ilya's. I figured the dolls would be worth at least that much some day.
At the time, Ilya wasn't playing very well, and the joke amongst fans was instead of a bobbling head, his doll should have a bobbling glove. |

| as a fan of the cyclones i think it would be great to see a chuck weber bobble head, or a cedrick desjardins bobble head, but i don't think those would bring in the crowds. the giveaways are a marketing tool to put butts in seats and from a marketing standpoint obama and twister bring more people in. |

| We've been saying they should do a Chuck/Dean bobble head all year. But I don't think we'll ever get it to tell the truth. |

| Not that my vote counts either, but a Chuck Weber Bobblehead would be great! |

| Its the politics of getting butts in the seats, which is fine, but still its a hockey event not a political event, obviously. I'm sure many feel where i'm coming from. |

| They need to start making more of whatever bobblehead they have tho. If it puts people in seats you should have enough for those people. Over 5000 people not getting the promoted item cant make those people too happy and i'm sure the clones are banking on some of those people coming back but if they dont have a good time from the start they might not. |

I know a bobblehead that would make us money,... I mean put butts in the seat. We should go a Pete Rose bobblehead, haha, remember when we retired his jersey, that game was kinda packed.
I'm joking though, so please don't take me seriously. |

| I voted last year for a Weber bobblehead. That needs to happen. Although a duel coaching bobblehead holding the trophie would rock !! |

| I've got a different take on this.......they more than advertised that there were only to be 3000 bobbleheads, Obama has taken this country by storm,(However, I voted differently, and so did half of the country) If you wanted a bobblehead so badly then show up earlier, I had heard that some on the boards arrived over 1 hour earlier and one would have thought that would have been enough time....however apparently it wasn't. If a person was there at the game ONLY for a bobblehead and you were a walk up...then maybe before buying your tickets maybe you should have asked if there were any left? We chose not to attend this game because I was not interested in fighting a crowd the Size that I predicted. 5000 or so the night before is just fine for me. I understand the need to attract large crowds for the long term survival of the Clones but it still rubs me the wrong way that the Clones are not good enough to draw large crowds during regular games and then draw 8000 for a OBAMA bobblehead...I agree, I cannot understand the folks that live in this city. |

my $.02 (whatever)...
to repeat others, a promotion is something that gets people in the seats. maybe they'll like the product, maybe they won't, but at least they experienced it.
i don't understand this at all. some commenters were upset about the promotion choice, then happy because it caused 8500 people to show up?
8500 people is a great draw, regardless of the reason. if you're upset that people came just for the promotion, then you should also be upset that a chance to win the cup drew 13000.
it's a bobblehead. of a political figure. the promotion is only political if you put politics into it, and saturday's promotion would have a been a large draw regardless of the election outcome. but in the end, it is only a bobblehead.
why were people commenting about destroying cyclones merchandise?
and would a twister on his head bobblehead be a bobblehead, or a bobblelegs? |

| i voted for twister on his head... hundreds of times! they should have attempted to at least format the poll to track cookies to prevent people like me from running up the totals. in retrospect i wish i would have voted for coach weber... he's a class act and deserves a little recognition for how he is TEACHING these young skaters. |
