Let me premise this thread by saying No i am not complaining about this.
My question is, First off, where has syro been when he's not here? I see he's been on Milwaukee's roster but saw no ice time.
Secondly, why has he not been given more of a chance in the AHL? He's got size, can shoot, and seems to handle the puck well.

Syroczynski has played a total of 3 games in the AHL in his career including one game earlier this season in Milwaukee.

Matt isn't the quickest guy and for a guy who is 6'5" and weighs 225 lbs., he doesn't play a very physical game. I think that these are the two factors which prevent him from making much of an impression on AHL coaches and GM's.

Matt spent the bulk of the time this season on the IR with a "Lower Body Injury". He had surgery, rehabbed (did a little color with Hamer on the radio; and did a pretty good job I might add) and is now back with us.
HRC666 is correct with all his facts and stats but i'd also like to add that his age is a little old for someone starting out in the AHL.(If you are undrafted) It seems that if you don't hit the AHL by 23 you most likely are not going to stick. He was in the "NEW" IHL in 06-07, (Not exactly on the prospect track) and was cut by Elmira at the very beginning of 07-08 (Missed that call, eh, Martinson?)
It took a few seasons for him to get to the ECHL and while we love him here he most likely isn't going to move up. He just blossomed at the wrong time for a serious AHL/NHL shot. Its sad when you see a guy that has (what I think are) the right tools and the right attitude just show up at the wrong time. Off the ice he's a real nice guy and he will be a great success in business or sales when hockey is over but for right now the ECHL may be the highest league he'll qualify for. |
