CINCINNATI The Cincinnati Cyclones claimed a wild 6-5 win over the North Division leading Kalamazoo Wings on Friday night. The triumph moved Cincinnati into sole possession of second place in the division with the triumph. Scott Reynolds' third period goal was the difference in the win.

Twice during the game, Cincinnati battled back from two goal deficits in the contest to take the triumph. It was the first time since February 20 of last season that the club erased a dual goal deficit for the victory.

Kalamazoo raced out to a 2-0 lead in the first seven minutes on goals from Travis Granbois (2:08) and Jeff Mason (power play at 6:17). It took the Cyclones twelve seconds after that to cut the deficit in half when on the ensuing faceoff a quick rush up the right side led to Dustin Sproat's ninth goal of the season from Brett Robinson and Matt Pierce. Just 44 seconds after that (at 7:13), Barret Ehgoetz banged home his sixth of the season from the top of the goal crease. Scott Reynolds had the assist on the score to level the score at two apiece. Cincinnati grabbed its first lead of the night at 14:17 when Robinson re-directed a Pierce shot in the low slot between the legs of Kalamazoo goalie Julien Ellis. It was Robinson's second goal in as many games. The shots favored Cincinnati, 15-6, in the period.

After a wide open second period, the game was tied at five apiece at the break. Kalamazoo scored the first three goals of the period, as Darryl Lloyd (his seventh at 1:39), Sam Ftorek (his third at 4:33) and Rick Cleaver (his ninth at 6:38) gave the Wings a 5-3 lead. Cincinnati cut the deficit to 5-4 when Mike McLean slapped home his fifth score at 10:31 from Bryan Leitch and Ryan Del Monte. The game was tied for the third time at five each when Jason Jozsa slipped a shot through traffic from the top of the right circle for his first goal with the Cyclones. Sproat had the assist on the shorthanded goal. The shots in the second favored Kalamazoo, 12-8.

Scott Reynolds snapped off a shot between the circles at 7:40 of the third period after Ehgoetz wrestled a puck free from the left corner. It was his seventh of the season and his third game winning goal. Kalamazoo again won the shots battle in the term, 7-5, but the Cyclones claimed the title for the game at 28-25.

Robert Mayer picked up the triumph, his third of the seasonstopping 20 shots. Julien Ellis took the loss, turning aside 22 shots. The Wings were two of five on the power play, while Cincinnati was zero for three.

Cincinnati is now 8-7-1, while Kalamazoo is 11-3-1. The Cyclones head off for a pair of weekend games at Wheeling. Tomorrow night, the game is carried on the internet at www.cycloneshockey.com with an 8:05pm face off. Sunday it is a 6:35pm start from WesBanco Arena.

Tickets for the 2009-10 Cincinnati Cyclones season are now on sale. The Cyclones Sales Department can be reached at 513-421-PUCK, extension 3. Selected Friday night games are carried on 1530-AM Homer, while all 72 regular season games can be heard on the club's website at: www.cycloneshockey.com. The next game on 1530 Homer will come next Friday night (December 4) when Florida visits the Cyclones at 7:30pm.

I didn't make it tonight but seeing that attendance figure (3496) almost seems disappointing for a weekend game after what they've drew so far, including over 3000 on Wednesday. Didn't think I'd ever say that, but it's hard not to after the hot start they've had. Of course that is what happens when there's no major promotion and some families could have still been absent due to Thanksgiving traveling, but it was just surprising to see. Still another good crowd by any means.

I thought that there were less in the crowd than on Wednesday. I guess that's why they scan the tickets and don't come to me for their announced figure

The game was amazing. Coming back twice from 2 goal deficits is quite an accomplishment.

Former Cyclone and current Kzoo coach Bootland went nuts after Jozsa's goal off of a very pretty pass from Sproat.

I'm told that Jozsa came on the ice a good 15 feet ahead of whomever was coming off. The linesman giveth and the linesman taketh away.

We like this giveth stuff.

the josza goal was a created by a beautiful line change. the player coming off the ice went to the center ice door and jason hopped on near the offensive zone door which gained him about 15 ft on the back checking defender. there were NOT too many men on the ice since the player coming off was in the "buffer zone" that linesmen allow for and josza did not play the puck until the player he came on for was fully off the ice. it was just a smart veteran hockey play.

check www.cycwords.wordpress.com a little later and you'll get more than my two cents on last nights game.

Posting a bit late but it's been a long weekend.

Congrats to the Cyclones, they earned both wins against Kzoo, and certainly made the North Division race a lot closer now. I don't know how Cincy's schedule looks, but December has the K-Wings playing most of the game against North Division foes (including the Cyclones 3 more times).

We're trying to be patient in Kzoo. It's still early and maybe the NHL and AHL inury bugs are finally subsiding so we can get a couple more players back (we hope). Otherwise, I guess we'll see after a few days off here...

HRC, if Im correct, that was Wednesday night when the Cyclone player got the "quick hop" on the guy he was coming in for....I witnessed it and pointed to my group saying look how early he jumped in and nobody saw it LOL....guess I was wrong LOL

And if that was this weekend when it happened, them Im guessing its happened a lot, cuz the last game I went to was Wed, and I saw it and started laughing...It was so obvious!
