CYCLONES WIN THREE OF FOUR OVER HOLIDAYS
Cincinnati Moves Into Second Place in North Division -- Hosts Three This Week

COMING UP: The Cincinnati Cyclones, the ECHL affiliate of the Montreal Canadiens and Nashville Predators, play three games at home this week. Wednesday, North Division leader Kalamazoo rolls in. Over the weekend (Friday and Saturday), the Florida Everblades and former Cyclones mentor Malcolm Cameron come to town for a pair of 7:30pm clashes.

UPCOMING PROMOTIONS: Wednesday night is another of the 'Wet Wednesdays' with Pabst Blue Ribbon and Miller High Life cans selling for just one dollar throughout the evening. Friday is the annual 'Teddy Bear Toss' where fans are encouraged to bring new or gently loved stuffed animals to the game. Following the Cyclones first goal, the animals are tossed on to the ice. Animals collected will be turned over the the Shriners Burns Institute. Saturday night it is the 'Salute To The Reds.' The Cyclones' next door neighbors are celebrating their winter and the team joins in wearing replica Reds jerseys. Fans are able to bid on the jerseys in a special postgame auction with proceeds benefitting the Reds Community Fund.

WEEK IN REWIND: The Cyclones turned in a 3-1 record during the week to take over sole possession of second place in the North Division. Four points behind Kalamazoo for the division lead and three points in front of third place Toledo.

ABOUT WEDNESDAY...: The Cyclones raced to a 2-0 lead and held on for a 4-1 win over Kalamazoo. Brett Robinson netted his first pro goal and added an assist in the triumph. Mike McLean, Scott Reynolds and Dustin Sproat collected the other goals. Jeremy Smith re-directed 25 shots to take the victory.

ABOUT FRIDAY...: The Cyclones knocked off Kalamazoo for the second straight game, rallying twice from two goal deficits to claim a 6-5 win. Scott Reynolds had a goal and two assists, while Brett Robinson had a goal and an assist to pace the attack. Barret Ehgoetz, Jason Jozsa and Mike McLean picked up the other goals. Brian O'Hanley was a career-best plus-four in the triumph. Robert Mayer stopped 20 shots to earn the win.

ABOUT SATURDAY...: Cincinnati raced out to a 2-0 lead, but six second period power play chances--including three five-on-three situations allowed--permitted Wheeling to score four time and pick up a 5-2 win. Brett Robinson had both goals and a 28 save performance from Robert Mayer was not enough in this game.

ABOUT SUNDAY...: The Cyclones rallied from a 2-1 deficit at the start of the third period to claim a 3-2 win over Wheeling. Jason Jozsa's second goal of the season with 4:31to play broke the 2-2 deadlock and lifted Cincinnati to the win. Doug Krantz and Scott Reynolds notched the other lamplighters in the triumph. Robert Mayer was victorious in goal with 21 saves.

TALKING ABOUT DOUG KRANTZ...: Cyclones defenseman Doug Krantz returned to the lineup for the first time in 14 games on Sunday and delivered a monster blow in the contest. Krantz scored the game-tying goal with 11:57 to go in the game against his former team. Doug spent his rookie campaign with Wheeling and was traded in the off-season to Alaska and later was dealt to Cincinnati in exchange for forward Justin Johnson. The goal was the second of the season for Krantz and his first at WesBanco Arena since March 6 of last season.

BRETT BRINGS IT...: Cyclones rookie forward Brett Robinson had a big week. After going without a goal in his first 15 games, the Alton, ON native collected his first pro goal in Wednesday's 4-1 win over Kalamazoo, adding an assist earlier in the contest as well. On Friday, Robinson picked up a first period goal and assist in the 6-5 win over the K-Wings. Saturday, Brett had a pair of first period goals--but the Cyclones could not hold on in the 5-2 defeat. Sunday, Robinson assisted on the game winning goal in the third period. For the week, he earned the club's nod as nominee for ECHL 'Player of the Week' honors and turned in a four goal, three assist, seven point effort.

EHGOETZ MOVES UP: Cyclones center Barret Ehgoetz has spent the last five seasons playing on teams coached by Chuck Weber. In 2005-06, Ehgoetz played with Utah and then-assistant coach Weber. When the coach elevated his title and took the top job in Cincinnati--one of the first players contacted was Ehgoetz. The fifth-year player from Kincardine, ON has flourished and on Sunday moved into a tie with Sheldon Gorski for the club's career games played lead (218 games). Ehgoetz already holds the career assist record (122) and shorthanded goals mark (five). Barret ranks second on the list in points (186), goals (64), shots (541) and plus/minus (+44). His next game will put him at the top of his third career record mark with the organization.

CYCLONES AND THE NHL: Last week, two former Cyclones earned promotions to the National Hockey League and saw their first action in the world's premier hockey league. J.T. Wyman, who played 15 games with the Cyclones last season, was elevated from the Hamilton Bulldogs (AHL) to the Montreal Canadiens on Tuesday and played that night. David Desharnais, who was a member of the Kelly Cup championship team in 2007-08, earned a call-up by Montreal from Hamilton on Wednesday and played that night against the Pittsburgh Penguins. They become the second and third players under Chuck Weber to earn NHL opportunities. Greg Stewart, who played on the 2006-07 Cyclones club, had his chance last season.

WELCOME BACK MALCOLM: This weekend, the Florida Everblades come to U.S. Bank Arena. It will be the first time that Malcolm Cameron will come back to the facility since coaching the Cyclones during the 2002-03 campaign. Cameron directed the club to a 36-29-7 mark (third place in the Northwest Division) and wins over Peoria and Toledo in the first two rounds of the playoffs. Cincinnati advanced to the Conference Finals for the first time in team history before losing in seven games to Atlantic City. The Boardwalk Bullies would capture the Kelly Cup that season. Malcolm has coached against Chuck Weber, last season Florida won two of three games against a shorthanded Cyclones squad in the Sunshine State.

MORE ATTENDANCE INFO: The Cyclones begin the week in fifth place in ECHL attendance at 5064 per game (less than 200 fans per contest less than Gwinnett for fourth). Cincinnati's attendance is up 68.7 percent over a year ago. The club has attracted 35,447 through the turnstiles, which is more than the team brought in through the first 15 games of 2008-09. Of the 78 teams playing minor pro hockey in North America, the Cyclones are 17th on the list in average attendance.

CLIMBING HIGH...: When the Cyclones returned to hockey in 2006-07, they finished 25th of 25 teams in attendance at 1844 per game. During the 2007-08 Kelly Cup march, the squad attracted 2523 per game--an increase of 36.8 percent. That percentage was the greatest of any team playing minor pro hockey. Last year, the team attracted 3104 per game--an increase of 23 percent, second-best in all of minor pro hockey.

WE'RE ONLY AT HOME WHEN WE ARE ON THE ROAD: The Cyclones have played twelve road games in 2009-2010. Only South Carolina (13) has played more. Cincinnati has won 65 games between the regular season and playoffs since the start of the 2007-08 season--most of any team in the league.

WE DON'T DO OVERTIME MUCH...: The Cyclones became the last team in the American Conference to reach overtime this season. Cincinnati is tied with two other National Conference clubs (Las Vegas and Victoria) for the fewest overtime games played this season (one).

PIERCE DELIVERS: Rookie forward Matt Pierce is second among all ECHL rookies with twelve goals (Dan Sexton of Bakersfield leads with 13) and is tied for third in the ECHL overall. Pierce is also tied for the league lead in power play goals (six).

SMITH SHOULDERING THE LOAD: Rookie goaltender Jeremy Smith ranks fourth among goaltenders and second in the rookie class with a 2.45 goals against average. Smith has a 6-4-1 record and has already delivered a shutout. During the week of November 8 Nashville goaltending coach Mitch Korn paid a visit to Cincinnati and since then, Jeremy has a 3-1-1 record with a 2.17 goals against average and a .916 save percentage.

COACHES SHOW: The Coors Light Cyclones Coaches Show originates each Monday night from Jefferson Hall at Newport on the Levee. Head Coach Chuck Weber joins Nick Brunker each week from 7-8pm. This week forwards Barret Ehgoetz and Scott Reynolds are the guests.
